expiring travel funds

Is it a given that Southwest will extend my travel funds if I wait until they expire and then request an extension?

No, you have to pay $50 for a voucher once they expire. I did this a few months ago. Some have suggested this as a $50 workaround to the recent "passenger name only" restriction.
