How long does it take for points from a Rapid Rewards credit card to post?
 

I've just applied for a Rapid Rewards Visa, and would like to use the points from that for a flight that would leave August 4.

They claim they will process my application within the next three days, and then if I am approved, send the card to me. Given that it's mid-June now, I am unsure it would arrive before July 1. If it then took an entire billing cycle (or, like United, six weeks) to post, that makes it impossible for me to use those points on that trip.

So: is it likely that the Rapid Rewards points would post in time to use on a trip in early August?

My credits usually post the day after the statement closes.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Artibasos. When you receive the card, call the Chase customer service number on the back to find out the statement closing date. If you make a purchase in time for it to post by the cutoff date, your credits should post no later than the morning following the overnight close of your statement. I've seen at least one report of bonus points recently posting as of the actual first purchase date, rather than the closing date, but that has not been positively confirmed.

A perhaps more serious issue is that there may not be any award seats available for the flight you want to take. Have you checked into that?
