I guess GA will have wait for entry the Skyteam sometime in early 2014.
Who will be next carrier to join the Skyteam.
Perhaps, AI or 9W who will eventually join the Skyteam. Nobody who will tell you.

Skyteam really need a new, strong member
That member has to be EY. Really would change skyteam ( for the better )

Why would Emirates want to join an alliance? They get alot of their business eating everyone else's traffic. They've even stated publicly they have no interest in joining an alliance.

I think there is quite a difference in size between EY and EK and I'm not sure that EK needs an alliance nearly as much as EY as a result. QR is bigger than EY, but it doesn't match the scale of EK and certainly doesn't match the scale to which EK wants to grow.
When you look at the orders EK has, the enormity of what an airline will look like with 90 A380s and 140+ 77Ws is a bit mind-boggling. How does an airline that would pretty well dwarf the long-haul capacity of the rest of the alliance peacefully coexist? What would the rest of the alliance have to gain? With that kind of fleet, EK will, as they do now, have to expand pretty aggressively into secondary markets. They won't need the feed that the alliance would give them. Look at the UK and Germany, where EK has been exceedingly successful - they run a daily 77W to Newcastle!
I just don't see EK ever coexisting in any of the current alliances. They don't seem to have much, if anything, to gain and the rest of the alliance carriers (particularly the European carriers) have too much to lose.
