I think eventually GOL will join ST, LATAM will join OW and AV/TA will join *A.

For Virgin Australia it could go anywhere, VA has loads of codeshares not just with DL, you need to remember that ANZ has a shareholding stake between 10% and 14.99%, VA also has a codeshare alliance will SQ.

I my opinion it is more likely that *A is the better option, however at the end it could go anywhere.

In the future I think ST will have:
1. VC (Air Australia) only if VA joins *A
2. 6E (Indigo Airlines) only if 9W join *A
3. GOL
4. AH (Air Algerie)
What if 9W doesn;t join * Alliance. Fir all we know, AI and *Alliance might not be able to come to an agreement.

6. BD (BMI)
7. UL (Sri Lankan Airline)
I would prefer UL to join Skyteam, but we don't always get what we want.

AI and PK are quite similar. It's hard to believe that * would find PK acceptable when it did not found AI suitable.
PK brings to the alliance better connectivity to Pakistan for U.S./U.K. traffic. Few, if any European carriers fly to Pakistan.

Actually, it just only a limitation fflight to EU and they banned the A310 due to safety concerns.

Actually, BD is still in Star Alliance. BD doesn't leave from Star for a very long time. BD is still belonging to Star Alliance.

I was not talking about PK flights, but absence of EU or US airlines at Pakistani airports.

BD has just been bought by BA. Planes, FFP, staff, slots, etc. are expected to become integrated into BA this year. So while BD as we know it will probably cease to exist as a brand, it makes sense to say that it will become part of OW.

I believe you're right. That's why they won't let it in due to slot restrictions.

i'll add, not just DL that 'still in progress' to persuade GOL to join, another ST members which GOL already codeshared in (AFKL, AM, and AR -which in process to join ST-) now still try to push GOL hard to join ST.

i doubt them join ST, due to limited number of destinations and planes.

4. AH (Air Algerie)
Last time i know, they'll face EU ban due safety issues.

hmm, i guess one of them will stay independent. or maybe both of them will join one alliance at same time. let's see later.

if this is true, so the remaining speculations now are Virgin Atlantic, Flybe, or (probably) Monarch Airlines.

(If Monarch Airlines included) Maybe just one of them will join. Or probably two. Maybe..
* Virgin Atlantic - Flybe to join ST (Monarch Airlines stay independent)
* Virgin Atlantic - Monarch Airlines to join ST (Flybe maybe stay at IAG)
* Flybe - Monarch Airlines to join ST (Virgin Atlantic join *A)

Now if this turns out to be true, 2012 will be a good year for SkyTeam.

Hmmm. I think it's good news to hear. I'm surely they will joined the SkyTeam. Who will be next new SkyTeam member in 2013?

I can say maybe..

* Olympic air, as they now focused on regional routes and codeshares.
* JAT, as they'll quit codeshare with LH this year.
* Sichuan Airlines, as they'll open Amsterdam this year (which is one of ST hub)

Say that i'm a bit not understand on that article in part that discuss Indian Airline part. But i can say, ST seems not interested to recruit AI as they have 'dramatic' financial problems. so maybe they'll choose between 9W, 6E, or UL.

If ST success persuade GOL to join ST, GOL seems next to join too.

Oh, joy! SV will be the first to join. I'm sure there will be another PR debacle for DL wrapped up in that one.
