SkyTeam Round the World and Europe Pass Fares Now Offer Travelers More Choices

SkyTeam Round the World and Europe Pass Fares Now Offer Travelers More Choices

Quote:
At a meeting today in Noordwijk, the SkyTeam Steering Committee announced that passengers traveling via the alliance's Round the World (RTW) and Europe Pass products will have greater options, in terms of schedules and destinations, with the addition of Continental's, KLM's and Northwest's route networks. Effective April 15, RTW customers can select flight options from any of the nine member airlines, while Europe Pass customers have their choice of routes operated by the alliance's four European carriers.
Looks like CO, KL, and NW are available for RTW routing in just a few days.

Are the base fares still the same? AF is trying to quote me ~9966 USD for a RTW in biz, but I'm under the 26k miles of a RTWSKY4... any ideas? or do I need to call them and have it re-fared?

THANKS!!

upcoming RTW

recently booked 2 RTW tix on CO. one was BOS-EWR-NRT-ICN-SGN-ICN-BOM-MXP-CAI-CDG-BOS, for about $6800 in biz, and the other was BOS-EWR-NRT-ICN-SGN-ICN-BOM-MXP-CAI-CDG-IAH-UIO-IAH-BOS, for about $9100. it took about 8 hours of phone time to get all the segments right, plus over 2 hours at the airport. anyone with any tips on the seats for those flights, esp on KE, please lemme know. i'll post a report after the trip....

That's a lot of miles!
Soooooo jealous!

8 hours? Ouch.
Are you CO elite? (Or any other Skyteam member?)
If not, that would be MOST wise for bonuses.

On KE 747s choose the exit row upsatirs.
But, also BEG for seating in the FC section! It's quite nice in the nose!

Full Skyteam RTW rules

Can someone provide the full Skyteam RTW rules (purchase ticket) that includes NW and CO?
I note previous posts only include the base 6 carriers before the April 15 addition of the 3 new carriers to the Skyteam RTW ticket.

I have travelled RTW on a Skyteam ticket three times starting from Paris and including London as a stopover after having circled the globe. A quick train journey allows me to return to Paris then go back to London later in the year to continue the journey. Since backtracking is allowed this means I can complete the return to Paris via, say Rome, Athens and Amsterdam. Does anyone know if I can connect in Paris on my journey to London without actually bringing the trip to a close? I plan CDG - various places in the US - Seoul - Tokyo - London - various European cities - CDG. Would I be allowed to fly Tokyo - London AF via Paris or would the connection in CDG complete the RTW trip and prevent me going on to London? I ask this as I intend travelling First Class and only AF has an F cabin (AZ or KLM via Milan or Amsterdam are CY only) on this route.

26K Miles package should NOT have Business Class option from what I know (unless they have changed the rules recently). So it is possible they quoted you under 29K miles package rate since that is the lowest miles package which allows Business Class option. Or North American might have different rules on this 26K package.

Originating Trips from BANGKOK, 29K Package Business Class option only costs 4500 USD equivalent (before tax). Isn't that great?

Your 9966 USD (probably already included tax) is still a little too crazy but they may have increased fares from US originating trips. If I were you, I could have saved 3-4K by just spend 1000 USD flying economy to BKK and originating trips from there....

On DL and CO award tickets, it's just 220,000 miles for Business Class (280,000 for First) with NO limit to the number of miles flown. That's a bargain in my eyes. (And, CO apparently allows VS flights as part of a RTW itinerary!)

How does CO deal with a business reward in terms of booking class? Specifically on CO operated flights, since they only have BF and coach? If I want BF do I have to buy/redeem for First? That would be a crappy solution to the situation, but not one I'd be surprised to find.

A big favour to ask

I wonder if someone could do me a big favour? I don't have Excel, so I can't consult WearyBizTrvlr's price list of Skyteam RTW fares. Nor do I know whether it shows the latest (summer 2005 - though I shan't be travelling until after October when they normally change again) prices. Would someone be kind enough to look up the following for me and post them?

I'd like the price both in Euros (for a ticket bought in France) and GB pounds (for one bought in the UK) for 29,000 miles in F, and for 29,000 and 34,000 miles in C. That would help me in my choices for my next trip.

A big thank you to whoever could do that.

Added later: Sorry, by "look up" I just mean consult WearyBlizTrvlr's list for me, not going to any trouble on my behalf. Thanks.
