Is International Driver's License required for Sixt Germany rental?

Or will my California Driver's License suffice, as it has before at Hertz FRA? This time it's Sixt Dortmund Airport (Germany)... I hate to have to get an IDL but...

Thanks,
Michael

I had no trouble renting in Germany (with Avis & Sixt) with a California license. I get an IDL issued only for visits in "eclectic countries" in Asia or Africa. However, I may have been lucky - you may want to check with the DMV if the CA license is officially recognized in Germany.

I would not worry what-so-ever because I rented with Ontario license all over Europe and nobody ever gave me any hassle over it. As mentioned, if you want to be sure 100 %, make a call before departure...
