1 am arrival in Singapore Changi Airport - where to sleep?

Greetings all. I am arriving in SIN at about 1am from HKG (a long flight from NYC) and of course will not be able to check into my downtown hotel at that hour for that day. I would like to know if there is a hotel at SIN airport that offers hourly rates (say for 6-8 hours). i would then travel into city in morning. I do see there is something called the Ambassador Transit Hotel which is for short term stays but it is only on the departure levels? Would I be able to access it upon my arrival from NRT? other options? Is there an airport lounge I can at least pay admission to for several hours? Many thanks!

The transit hotel is airside. Departure and Arrival areas are not segregated airside in Singapore so you should have no problems getting to the transit hotel. Do call them ahead of time and book a room

Don't see why the hotel would not check you in, unless of course your reservation doesn't start until the next day. If that's the case, why not start the reservation the day you leave from NRT, then call the hotel and advise them that you'll be arriving about 2am the following day. I'm sure they'd hold the room for you.

Of course, it might just be easier to sleep at Changi that night. Someone else has already mentioned the airport hotel, which you could reserve.

Cheers.

Here is the thread on overnight in Changi
Overnight at Singapore (Changi) airport

Last time I stay there and hit the town at 6am, I have stayed in both Conrad and Sheraton and they have no problem check me in at 7am for reservation began later that day.

Transit hotels(3 in Changi) are always full. You either book many weeks in advance, or hope for cancellation. I have always been able to get something by ~11pm without reservation.

There are several pay-in lounges you can use overnight (SATS premier, Rainforest, Ambassador). One of the SATS has cradle chairs you can sleep in. Rainforest has some kind of day bed(but costs more than transit hotel).

Without paying, you can use one of the the open area lounging chairs, or the free movie theatre.

with all the talk of how great Changi is, why not just sleep in the airport. That what I plan on doing on my 1am Arrival when I go down there.

How far in advance do you all recommend making reservations for a Transit Hotel at Changi?

If I understand this thread correctly, there is more than one transit hotel. Which is the best?

Arriving on SQ 11 from NRT around 2:00 am, departing around 8:00 am the next morning, so transit hotel overnight seems like a good option.

I booked a room at T3 transit hotel on Friday for a stay tomorrow (Tuesday) and got the confirmation about 6 hours later. I'm not saying that's typical, but it's worked for me in this case (as long as they don't deny me when I show up).

There's a transit hotel in each terminal, T1, T2, and T3. I've only used T3, which is the newest. One of the others was recently closed for extensive renovation. Also one of the others has some especially cheap budget rooms without private/ensuite toilet and shower facilities.

For a 2am to 8 am flight schedule, I would make a reservation at the transit hotel in the terminal my flights use, probably T3 for SQ 11.

Will transit hotel allow the single budget room to be filled with 2 people?

It is a small room with a single bed which seem smaller than standard North American Twin 39X78.
You also have to get two people past the staff front desk.
I think T1 has single rooms in a different section than the main front desk.

We were able to get 2 guests past them in the T1 lounge since it was around the corner, but YMMV.
