it's ceejay from Germany here. At the end of the year I will be staying in Singapore with some friends for a week before I return to Germany again.
I am going to stay at my friend's house for the whole week but I was wondering if you guys could recommend a nice hotel where I could stay with my friends and some of their friends and have a little gathering for around 10 people of whom maximum 5 will stay overnight. It will not be a huge party where we are going to trash the room, we will just eat and have some drinks, catching up about the old times.
Do you have any idea where I can find something like that, if possible for under 400SGD per night.
Thanks in Advance

Most nice hotels won't allow 10 people partying in a room without prior arrangements; expect a visit from security. You don't state your age, but if also 16-18, you may have difficulty checking in to a hotel in Singapore (I believe they all require over 18 for registration, as do many countries), unless unaccompanied minor travel has been arranged (this needs things like notarized letters of permission from parents or legal guardian). You might want to check further on the mechanics involved for your plans. Luxury hotels in particular are not keen to have their rooms trashed during parties

Easiest and cheapest solution: call up a hotel and ask to book two connected rooms with a door open between the two. For people not staying overnight, meet them in the lobby and bring them up to your room. Ta-dah, instant party space for the price of two overnight stays, and the hotel is not going to complain (or even notice) as long as you keep it quiet.
On a related note...I heard that there is a premium that hotels charge during the period between X-mas and new years. Any idea on how much this is likely to be?
