My TA told me this morning that SQ are now pricing every segment, resulting in higher fares. e.g. SYD-PEK is now SYD-SIN, SIN-PEK and return. Even though that was always the routing, the fare was based on a SYD-PEK and lower. My TA describes the current SQ attitude as "bloody minded".
BTW, my TA is good, have been with her for 30+ years, mostly does corporate work. SQ recently refused to renew/renegotiate some great corporate rates we had as well.
I have had some great SQ RTW deals in F, in the past, cheaper than Kangaroo route or across the Pacific. May have to book * and use SQ flights in future.
I'm still seeing (F/C/Y)EZSQ RTW fares ex-LHR... but not any of the Aus/NZ cities.
Maybe they have terminated the all-SQ RTWs ex-Aus/NZ because you had the special concession meaning you could fly Aus/NZ-SIN and back as well as the full RTW segments, meaning you got a lot more out of the RTW than everyone else?

I guess it had to happen sooner or later...
Gone are the days of el cheapo fares on SQ I guess. From what I hear, SQ is charging a surcharge in economy for the A380 flights ex-SIN , where, unfortunately, most people WILL in Singapore will pay just because it's "the 380 on SIA".
From that attitude, to cutbacks in quality in their premium classes, to cutbacks of certain nett fares, SQ wants to be a premium airline with full published fares only! I wonder how long before it will realise that that might not work when the numbers start to crunch.

Hmm not like we want to pay such a surcharge (ridiculous pricing policy - I agree) but sometimes this is the flight / time one needs to fly. The more birds they get and deploy to other routes the worse our choices become. Unless my company pays for it I will avoid those flights if possible.
Similarly, I'm already dreading the day when there are no morew 747's to Europe, Oz, US any longer and I can kiss goodbye to any C or F reward seats on SQ at saver levels.

Aaah this explains why mysteriously the SQ RTW fare disappeared from bestflights.com.au round the world fares pages over the weekend. Not surprising really ex-Oz given that return flights to SIN in business are $4.5K or thereabouts. If they're filling the planes at that they're practically giving away the rest of the RTW sectors.
How sad.. I booked a SQ RTW from SYD last OCTOBER and really was looking forward to booking another. Great fare for $8500 in first with a routing of SYD-SIN-NRT-LAX...JFK-FRA...BCN-MXP-SIN-SYD.....

I was on SQ15/16 (the SFO-ICN-SIN vv. flights) recently and noticed the following (at least in the F cabin).
On SQ 15, all pax (including myself) in F terminated at ICN. Seems like that a new set of pax would then join the flight in ICN to continue to SIN.
On SQ 16, I started my trip in SIN and most of the fellow pax on my flight whom I saw in the F side of the SKL were actually in J (and some even Y, while I noticed while boarding the flight - and some had "Solitaire" baggage tags). Flight from SIN-ICN was 7/8. From ICN-SFO, I was the only passenger (everybody else got off at ICN). Note: SIN-SFO is about SGD 8000 one-way in F.
This makes me wonder why SQ even bothers putting at 77W on this route. Just to serve the SIN-ICN-SIN passengers?

Reason: clarity
I have just completed an RTW SQ only itinerary in F because the fare was attractive. I think SQ is foolish to terminate this special fare because it was the main thing that attracted me away from OneWorld. SQ are kidding themselves if they think pax like me will continue to fly with them at fares similar to OneWorld. It is not as if SQ's F cabins are full. On FRA-SIN (744 service) last week there were only 3 F pax, and on SIN-MEL (744 service) there were only 4 - and the rest of the classes were very lightly loaded as well. Be careful SQ.
But surely under the terms of its membership with Star, SIA simply cannot drop out of an important promotional fare like the RTW ?
SIA can, of course, modify the price from market to market and surcharge premium class on the A380 etc (which it is already doing in some markets). But, along with the other Star members, it has to participate in RTW ... at least that's what the info on the Star Alliance website would infer.
