I recently bought a RTW from SYD in FIRST using the SQ only fare. Great deal as TWO transfers through SIN are allowed. and the SQ AUSTRALIA office is quite easy to deal with....

Just to be clear...two SIN transfers are allowed for AUS origination as there is no other way to access the continent. Pretty sure it is the only exception to the transit SIN once rule.

I thought you cannot touch SIN more than 3 times on a RTW.

Re: the earlier question in this thread whether the SQ-only RTWs (EEZSQ, CEZSQ, and FEZSQ) apply to/from Houston -- according to the local SQ ticketing gurus, they do.

What's not completely clear to me is the C-class 77W supplement. The fare rules haven't been updated since May, 2007, and therefore make no reference to the amount of the supplement required for SQ61 and SQ62. For that matter, there's no amount specified for SQ331/332 or for SQ341/342 either, but as these are additional frequencies to CDG and ZRH, it's easy to mimic the specified supplement for the other flights.

There is a prohibition against using any of the SQ-only RTW fares on SQ21/22 and SQ37/38, irrespective of the fare paid. So, to answer my own question earlier, you could not use an FEZSQ fare to fly the A345. By the same token, the rule would have to be re-written to specifically exclude SQ61/62 if SQ doesn't want it apply on the Houston route.

That is a rule for the standard *A RTW. The discussion here is about SQ-only RTW (much cheaper but more restrictive).

This sounds too high to me.

Mine was just under $7000 ex-LAX in F. I'd be surprised if there were such a premium ex-AUS. Extra taxes/fees of some type?

Maybe not. The US$ price of the North American FEZSQ hasn't changed over the several years I've been using them. If you had compared the two back when the Oz dollar was 1.3 to the sawbuck, an equivalent price would have been about 8700 AUD before taxes.

Now, it's maybe 1.05 AUD to the US$ on a good day....so it might be about 8700 US$ before extras.........

The North American ticket is a good price in US$ -- but you sure don't get as many PPS value points as two or three years ago.......

From USA you can't go to SWP. But the ex-Australian fare allows you to fly to/from SIN (hence the 2 transits - but only ONE is a stopover. The other must only be a connection) as there is no other way for you to fly off (till SQ flies SYD-LAX I suppose).

So that's probably why the ex-Australian fare is slightly more than the ex-USA fare.

Yes, I've done it last year with my wife to get to Bali (SIN - DPS - SIN booked separately) and next month we'll do it again - this time even with another couple (sorry, we did grab all available A seats in the 77W). Booked via the local SQ office in SF, because their call center in India was unable to even understand my name (and yes, I've tried!!!)

We are living in SFO, so I booked a flight with Virgin America (SFO - JFK). Last year it was dirty cheap: $320 per person in F, this year it is more expensive, but still a good deal. But flying into JFK is always a risk, because that airport is overrun with domestic flights - plan for a generous stop in JFK! Last year we barely (!!!) made it with 3 hours in JFK (including running to the SQ F check in, being the last passenger to check in and then running to the gate). This year I've planned for more time...

Precisely why I do such trips in the opposite direction...so JFK can't screw up my first INT leg. Way easier to take the delay domestically AFTER my holiday/main portion of my trip.

I do what you do -- VX from SFO to JFK with a long layover. If you can depart JFK on Saturday night, it's a bit better, because a number of US domestic flights don't run Saturday night. Last trip, SQ 25 pushed at 2120 (old schedule: now it's 2105), and we were in the air at 2139....

Use Clear card to get through the chaos of security at the East pier...whatta mess.

Another note: I agree with Fritz that passengers using the SQ RTW fares should talk directly to an SQ office in North America. I just walk into the San Francisco office, or call the PPS coordinator. The Delhi-based telephone sales folks never get the booking straight -- they'll book the wrong class, then the whole itinerary has be cancelled and re-booked at ticketing.

This is not good. Might not be any A or D seats by then!
