Yes SQ flies NRT-BKK but what does he do from BKK?? BKK-SIN is a back track and SQ doesn't fly anywhere west from BKK.

BKK-SIN on SQ is not a backtrack. As long as SIN is not crossed more than once the RTW is valid. So LAX-NRT-BKK-SIN-IST is valid and there is no backtrack.

Does SQ make an exception to their continuous direction rule for travel between BKK and SIN? BKK is located west of SIN so there is no way to include BKK in a RTW without "backtracking".

From Guy Betsy's post # 29 last April:
TRAVEL MUST BE IN A CONTINUOUS EASTBOUND OR
WESTBOUND GLOBAL DIRECTION.
TRAVEL BY SURFACE SECTORS WILL BE PERMITTED
PROVIDED THEY ARE AT THE PASSENGER OWN EXPENSES.
THE POINT AT WHICH THE PASSENGER REBOARDS SQ
SERVICES MUST BE IN THE SAME DIRECTION OF TRAVEL.
NO BACKTRACKING IS PERMITTED EXCEPT BTWN TWO SQ
EUROPEAN DESTINATIONS. THIS MAY BE BY SURFACE OR
VIA SQ SERVICES.

I think what governs is the actual route of the flight. The flight operates between SIN and NRT v v, and I think that means SQ considers BKK an intermediate point ("north" of SIN, if you will), not a back track.

But in all my SQ-only RTWs, I haven't tried that, so you'll have to ask. And I wouldn't be surprised if confusion exists among the SQ interpreters of the rule....it's really not clear.

Well thanks for all your guys help. I was finally able to talk to a supervisor at the RTW desk who did confirm for me that BKK is indeed a back track since it is West of Singapore. I will just leave BKK out this time. Thanks again for your help .

Sory for a newbie question on SQ. But would you confirm that on a FEZSQ you get acces to the suites on A380 and 77W?

77W has A (First) Class which is bookable using FEZSQ. A380 doesn't have A Class, only R (Suite) Class. You cannot book R Class using FEZSQ.

Thanks TerryK and SFO777. I have seen the disucssion about surcharges in C. Is there a way to use the A380 in First (from A to R) with a surcharge? if so what is it? Funnily, the notes on the FEZSQ fare (reproduced by SFO777 and listed in ExpertFlyer) only talk about the surcharges for Business.

SQ has quoted prices for upgrades - they are the difference of the magic formula they apply to your ticket: price / total miles flown * miles for the distance on the A380 - which for F usually is not very much

Then they take the one-way fare in R and subtract your tiny amount for booking into A.

As a result you might be paying more for the Upfare than for your whole ticket... Not worth it...

I see the rules on a very early post. Is it still true SQ only RTW excludes A345 flights (i.e. SIN-LAX/EWR)?

Still true...

THE FARE COMPONENT MUST NOT BE ON ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING SQ FLIGHT 0021 - 0022 / 0037 - 0038 / 1000 - 7999 / 9000 - 9999. NOTE - TRAVEL ON SQ A345 NOT PERMITTED.

Thanks... would have thought with today's low demand, they would allow it with a surcharge!!!

I've just tried to book a RTW fare on SQ through CTS France. They told me that the tickets had to be bought in the UK, either through a travel agent or SQ themselves.

Is there any way to do that remotely (from France)?
Would CTS UK book this ticket for me eventhough I'm a French card holder?
What if I was to call SQ myself in England and give them my credit card information?

Thank you in advance!

(Not sure if I should post this in the SQ or Amex forum)

Just booked 2 RTW tickets for DH & myself. It was surprisingly very easy & we were lucky to have 2 seats open on every flight. The most difficult part was paying for the darn tickets. It took several tries & phone calls before their system was working properly. We're also squeezing in F in CX, so it would be a fantastic opportunity for us to compare the F products of SQ & CX.
