Now I am hoping they will have the A380 running the SQ1 by June 2009 and they'll bump us up to Suite class!!
jarusoba, here is an other indication that you would likely be upgraded to R on the 380.

Thanks! Yes, we had all 4 tickets issued! And it is likely that they will have the A380. I am still keeping my fingers crossed.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/15/bu...zA&oref=slogin

This is a news article released when SQ got its first A380. It predicted SQ will fly SIN-LHR by the end of 1st quarter 2008, and will fly SIN-NRT by May 2008, and will fly HKG-SFO by the end of 2008.

SIN-LHR, first A380 flight was on Mar 18, 2008.
SIN-NRT, first A380 flight was on May 20, 2008.

So this article has been right. Let's hope its prediction of the HKG-SFO flight is right too!!!

Now I'm thinking of issuing another set of RTW in August 2009!

Last October I "did" SFO/HKG/SIN/DXB/IST-/FRA/JFK using the SQ RTW fare, and am trying LAX/NRT/BKK/SIN/side trip to DPS/SIN/LHR/-/FRA/JFK. I would like to try and backtrack from LHR to DME and end up in IAH to maximise miles, but there may be visa issues. Has anyone been able to put the inbound sector of a side trip within asia (DPS) on the SQ RTW ticket?
Any comments/suggestions are most welcome!

I don't think you can go thru SIN twice so I think DPS is out of the question. Having said that, I am wondering if they would let us backtracking in Asia like they do in Europe. I don't know if itins like SFO-HKG-(Land)-NRT-BKK-SIN-... are allowed.

If you want to go to DPS, you may have to get there by buying a flight segment to DPS, say, from HKG or BKK or TPE or NRT. Then fly DPS-SIN-...

Does anyone know there is a minimum number of stopovers required for the SQ only RTW fare in F?

No minimum stops or minimum days x-US. In theory, you could do JFK-SIN-SFO in just over 48 hours.

I am thinking of doing SFO-SIN-JFK in the winter. Do you know if SQ would be willing to add a non-SQ segment from JFK-SFO on the same ticket (the fare would of course increase by the price of that segment). I want to be protected in case there are snowstorms and other delays.

If you are talking about FEZSQ fare, no. That fare is strictly SQ only.

OTOH, you can add a JFK-SFO segment in the same PNR so that you will be protected in case of operating issues. One PNR can have more than one fare, but that fare will be priced and ticketed separately at one way JFK-SFO fare.

hi thanks for this useful bit of info. if the JFK - SFO is not a star alliance carrier (since UA koff koff needs to be avoided), can the flight still be put into the PNR? how does this work if say down the line the dates need to change, will check in agents still be able to pull everything up in the system?

This is very tempting.

I am thinking of this routing:

SQ 26: JFK-FRA
SQ 325: FRA-SIN (this is the new cabin, right?)
SQ 1: SIN-HKG
SQ 1: HKG-SFO

Yes, the evening flight is a 77W and the new F (you can also select from 77W flights from ZRH and CDG, although A class is much tighter from CDG).

If you are actually stopping in HKG, I would recommend another 77W SIN-HKG option instead of the old 744 SQ1, plus you'd arrive during the daytime. We did pretty much the same routing and SQ 862 was an outstanding lunch time option.

For a report on those flights...

You'll have a hard time on that itinerary with those flight numbers. SQ:26 and SQ 1 are westbounds; SQ 325 is eastbound.

After reading through the entire thread - the RTW with SQ Metal looks very nice, especially the price.

However, I must be in the extreme minority, as I'm curious as to which availability I need to look at for a Y booking RTW, ex N. America.

I'm looking to go West from SFO, and back into JFK, but am curious on the availability, price and if anyone else has done it here!?!

It seems everyone likes it in C/F, but has anyone done it in Y or priced one out?

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

Y on the RTW on SQ is 2,266 US from the SQ website, plus taxes of aprox. $477! Last October, I called the SQ reservations office in LA to do my RTW booking from SFO/HKG/SIN/DXB/IST, and back to JFK from FRA. The days I wanted were open. This year, I called the SQ res number (India), they took the info requested, and told me the RTW desk would call me within 48 hours. I got a call within 24 hours from the LA office and Sonia was quite a help.
