Which route would you recommend based on seat comfort, etc.?
CDG - SIN on SQ 333 (777-300 ER)
EWR - SIN on SQ 21 (A 340-500)

Thank you
This is perfect, as I myself am at an impass as to which to choose. However the only difference will be that I will be flying in Y as opposed to J. (I am planning on leaving on May 1)

IFE is a newer version on 77W than on A345 (but A345 has still one of the best IFE's anywhere)
Lounge in CDG is rubbish, lounge in EWR so-so.
EWR-SIN is a long flight without stopping (which some people prefer and others hate)
Which provides the better schedule for you?
I realize EE has better seat comfort (and that EE is a dying breed), but then 77W wins in IFE, and well the tie breaker is the food. If I take the CDG flight, on my AC leg (oddly enough on a 77W as well), I would get 1.5 meals (or 2), and then what, 2 more on SQ, and then on my connecting flight to either Auckland or Melbourne, or somewhere else. Whereas if I go with the EWR flight(albeit very cool if we do take the route over the North Pole), no nothing on my leg from YUL to EWR (and furthermore there is an increased probability of the YUL-EWR flight running late), and then 2 meals stretched over 18h...the duration of being on a plane really doesnt bother me, I really want to see what my body can take.

I realize that this is petty of me to think of this, but this is really a deciding factor for me.

Thanks Kiwi Flyer, and anyone else in advance for your opinion or insight to this matter.

PS. I am sure you want to keep this thread as clean as possible so if you need/want to PM your answer to me, I understand.

Any idea, if and when the AMS-SIN and the second SIN-AKL route will get the new seats?

The second AKL flights, SQ281/2, are currently operated by the 2-class 772ER. I don't think SQ will be putting the 773ER nor the 380 on these flights. SQ286/5 going to the 773ER May 11th is already enough.

This is a great thread, thanks to all for the information. So here's my question.

SQ 11 LAX-NRT-SIN is scheduled for a 747, am I to imagine that currently it's the old J product? If so...my trip is not till Dec, any thoughts on when/if they will upgrade the seats. Sadly, I'm pretty sure that there is no way by then it will be the A380 . I can't wait for it to come to SFO though!!!

SQ11/12 is still the Spacebed J product. I have read somewhere that there are plans to have this flight to be switched to the 380 but no timeline has been set. Even if it does, it definately won't be until after SQ1/2 (SFO) gets it.

New 77W/A380 route?

Any word regarding whether SQ plans to introduce the new planes or new business/first seats in the New York market (EWR or JFK), and if so what the timing may be?

Does anyone think it will be easier to get redemption bookings on the A380 SIN-NRT from 20th May onwards then it has been on the SIN-SYD route???

"Customers who hold ticketed bookings on flights to be operated by the A380 will be automatically accommodated on the new aircraft without any change required to their tickets. Customers holding bookings, but not yet ticketed, may need to check if there have been changes to their fares as a result of the aircraft change."

Well this is a nice gesture

I can't seem to price out the A380 flight on singaporeair.com yet. I wonder what the surcharge will be.
