You are correct that MAN is possible choice for an upgrade. I normally use LHR to SIN but now only the A380 and 777-300ER aircraft are used on this route. On Sunday past I upgraded my wife and I to J class for MAN-SIN-DPS for 45000 less the online discount of 15%. It's a small price to pay to travel to Manchester for the upgrade.
sorry for the sidetrack but i need to find out if the MEL-SIN SQ 218 flight (usually operated on a 773 ER) ever land in terminal 2 at SIN. seems like a strange request but i need that info to sort out some "issues" back home.
i know that due to SQ's rotations of aircraft, terminal arrivals only announced 2 hrs prior. The only SQ flight using 773 ER from terminal 2 is SIN-Moscow-Houston right?
would anyone be able to clarify this pls? thanks a lot...
Programs: LH/LX Sen, was SQ QPP4, BA Gold/Emerald, HHonors Gold, OK, SPG Gold, Goldpoints Silver

It appears to be confirmed that the third A380 destination in Europe will be ZRH starting in February 2010. The following newspaper article in NZZ (http://www.nzz.ch/nachrichten/zueric...1.3893859.html article) (in German), quotes amongst airport officials also an unnamed SQ spokesperson.
Further, the article says the Swiss FOCA (civil aviation authority) approval is pending and likely to be conditional to a test-landing. The third (upper deck) airbridge is not conditional for SQ, but desired, at least in medium term.
The rationale behind this seems to add capacity in C and reduce in F/Y. The once to twice daily 773 simply lacked C capacity - something everybody who recently tried to book C can confirm.

Thank you for pointing this out. However, it is not confirmed. A decision will likely be made in two weeks.
Family taking SIN-IAH-SIN flights (SQ62/SQ61) in Dec 2009/Jan 2010 in Economy class. I know the armrests in the bulkhead/exit row seats are fixed, and so cannot be moved up. But am wondering if the armrests in the rest of Economy class cabin can be moved up? This would be useful if the flight is light and the seats next to you are empty and you want to sleep across three or four Economy seats. Thanks

If you happen to have access to on-line seatmap at singaporeairlines.com, there is a note says "All seats have movable armrest except those marked with ( )." I see that the marks are only the emex seats. Thus, if you don't get emex, the armrests can be moved up.
The source was from swiss_global. I was just pointing out the difference between what he posted and what the quoted article actually said. So far, it is a confirmed rumor, i.e. it has been confirmed that there is a rumor.

On January 20th and 21st 2010 there will be some test flights of an A 380 at ZRH to test all the facilities. if everything goes to plan we will see a daily service from february/march on, according to a SIA spokesperson.

Thank you for the information.
I notice that SQ loves the month of February or March for the first flight! I heard that now the German-speaking crew has started the A380 training.
