Cancelling award - time to redeposit?

Cancelling award - time to redeposit?
I have booked an award and need to cancel it. How fast will I get the miles redeposited into my account? And can I cancel the award online?

You have to call in to get the miles re-credited because you have to pay the re-credit fee. As I recall it's not instantaneous but a few hours

That is my experience as well. If OP needs the miles for another trip they will hold the itinerary for him while his miles are redeposited.

I just cancelled an award. Requested immediate redeposit and it was done.
