SIA orders 20 777-9s and 19 787-10s

"Boeing [NYSE: BA] is pleased that Singapore Airlines has announced its commitment to purchase 20 777-9s and 19 787-10 Dreamliners. The national carrier and 787-10 launch customer also announced its recommitment for its previous order for 30 787-10 airplanes."

http://boeing.mediaroom.com/2017-02-...-9s-19-787-10s

This brings the outstanding order book to 49 787-10s (!), 20 777-9s, 57 A359s and 5 A380s.

The 777-9 order will probably put speculation over the A350-2000 to rest. The 787-10 order plus the regionally configured A350s is more surprising to me -- that's some pretty ambitious growth they have planned.

Congrats to SIA and Boeing!

They really need to replace the old J product in short haul A330, they are long overdue

Not sure the 787 is a good idea, especially if they go for the 9 across.

if they were just used for short haul (say up to 4 hrs) they still would be one of the best short haul products in the world. The problem is that they are still used for medium haul, overnight flights.

For me, what's important isn't Airbus vs Boeing or one plane vs another, it's how they choose to configure the cabins, especially Business class.

The new A350 business class being an example of a step forward in technology being hobbled by less than inspiring cabin comfort.

The 787 may be a good plane but the seats and seat config is horrid in Y. A very uncomfortable long distance ride. SQ's decision may also be politically motivated, looking to increase flights into USA.
