[BKK] New SKL Lounge to open on Feb 8

Based on the info posted on SKL construction site in BKK (across the concourse from gate D7/8), the lounge should open on Feb 8, 2017. It should be much bigger than the current one. Of course this is BKK, so delays might happen...

Does this mean no more *G lounge in the left side of the airport (A, B, C) other than TG C lounge?

possible delays

Was having a short chat with one of the staff,

- some delays may be expected...
- they are looking at end-feb or early-march to open the new lounge.
- new SKL will be located near gate D7 / D6. This would mean a shorter walk from the immigration control area. (a right turn from immigration, and a 1-2 mins walk)

front desk staff just told me that the new lounge would open March 8th.

I certainly hope it will still offer the fresh coconuts and Thai iced tea ice cream!

+1 on the fresh coconuts, so rare to be able to get fresh coconut water in a lounge. A great way to stay hydrated whilst travelling.

fresh coconuts
Those are not fresh coconuts. It depends on your definition of "fresh"?

Not from a TetraPak?

It's obviously not what I'd get at a roadside stall in Malaysia or Indonesia that's fresh that day, and parang'ed open upon request. But good enough in an airport lounge.

Yes .
Looking forward to 8 March

Those from the Thai roadside stalls are rather fresh too .

Or really fresh from our garden , not plantation

Growing up , we had these boys who would come from a nearby kampong & ask to scale our coconut trees . Bartering with them worked really well

The Eva lounge is new and pretty decent in bkk too. Only disadvantage is the short opening hours.

They were extended to accommodate *A elites who are not impressed with TG lounges (so BR can make money on this lounge). I use it regularly for my midnight OZ flight to ICN.
