SQ blocking CA award seats like Aeroplan?

Hi all,

So I've been trying to book some tickets from TPE to ULN using Krisflyer miles, flying on either CA or ShenZhen airlines. I've checking in January and July with two separate agents and they both said that they cannot see any award space open at all on multiple dates in January and July.

This is even though space shows up on United and ANA when I searched for the same dates. At first when I searched in July and nothing came up, I chalked it up to being too far in advance and maybe CA hadn't released space to SQ. But with January being only a couple months away, I think perhaps something else is up.

I know that Aeroplan and Lifemiles both block CA seats. I'm wondering if SQ is doing that now too.

Anyone else have any experience or datapoints?

Actually, the issue of who is blocking versus who is not making seats available is much bigger. There are multiple threads on the Air Canada/Aeroplan forum as well as on UA's and LH's.

There have also been issues with CA cancelling award seats which is a huge problem by itself but worse when you are already on your trip and find out.

Others here on SQ may have additional info as to the SQ-CA relationship on award tickets.
