I don't think this is correct..at least in the last 5+ years (after LAX-SIN nonstop was cancelled), SFO has always had more direct capacity:

SFO
SQ1/2 (SFO-HKG-SIN): 77W
SQ15/16 (SFO-ICN-SIN): 77W
UA 869/862/ (SFO-HKG-SIN): 744/772*

LAX
SQ11/12 (LAX-NRT-SIN) A380

*Kinda. Change of planes in HKG required to inbound 772 from ORD, but this is sold and marketed as one ticket. UA previously used the 744 from SFO onwards to SIN, but now sits on the ground overnight for capacity and fuel reasons, and uses the ORD 772.

Overall I'm quite thankful SQ1/2 are unchanged, it's an absolutely lovely alternative to/from SFO (I'm a regular CX flier), and keeps CX honest.

From what I've read, there is no intention to put suites on the 77W...I'm pretty sure you're looking at a phone call or email upcoming. At best you'll get 2 F seats, although I'm not sure you can "guarantee" anything here if you're on an award ticket unfortunately. At the worst I suppose you'll get a refund. No doubt others on here will have a much better idea than me. Good luck and sorry for the bad news.

They switched my LAX-SIN flight from the 24th of December to the 25th?! Time to make a mean phone call...

I just got an email that my seats 3C/3D have been changed to 1C/1D on the 77W. Is this for the 3-class version or the 4-class version? According to seatguru, the 3 class version has 8 F seats and the 4-class has 4 "suites". I know neither is the A380 suite, so what's the difference 3 vs 4 class F?

As long as it is new F...and the A380 didnt really have any F/J common areas, is the 77W that much of a downgrade? With only 4 seats, may be a decent chance that you could be by yourself in the F cabin and service could be still pretty damn good?

We have two seats booked, and were given seat assignments on the 77W from the 380...SIN-NRT-LAX.

On that day likely they had more than 4 of the 12 seats in Suites sold / booked already. Hence, with the new aircraft most likely being a 77WN (4 F, 2013 F seat version) the only option to keep you in First was to move your date.

Especially when you have an award flight booking you may draw the short straw versus a revenue passenger (like it or not). Options may be being put on the other LAX-SIN flight on Dec 24 (if feasible) or go via another gateway like SFO or IAH if Dec 24 is a must or even changing to Business (if available) plus refund of some of the F fare / F miles to align with Business Class.

All these options failing they will offer you a refund and they have the right to do that - again whether we like it or not.

Personal opinion after having flown Suites to JFK recently and return from SFO on 77WN. The 4-seat F mini cabin is actually quite nice and very "intimate" and you'll get loads of attention and care from the crew. The seat itself is not a Suite, but still very private and offers great comfort. No hardship at all in my book and I would be fine with either one product. Yes Suites was nice and all, but space is aplenty in both cases and the mini F actually feels almost more exclusive than Suites with 12 seats. YMMV.

In my case that is a bad thing. I now misconnect at NRT and there are no flights to SIN, or even via somewhere else, that I can connect to same day. Which mucks up the next day onward flight from SIN also. Crud.

Welp, the new early time for SQ11 makes it very hard if not impossible to connect same day at LAX for the flight.

On top of no longer being in suites NRT-SIN, my layover at SIN before going on to SYD just became about 5 hours longer

Though I guess there's worse situations in this world to be in...

Had a booking for later this year on the SQ15 SFO-ICN flight (in C). Called SQ and was promptly rebooked on the Asiana flight.
