Is Krisflyer silver worth an extra trip

I am one trip away from Krisflyer Silver, is it worth it to take another trip to get it or just take it as they come.

thanks

Only tangible benefit would be the 25% miles accrual bonus on SQ and Silkair flights. The waitlist is nominal because in most case, you would be behind a long list of folks with gold status.

My view is that it is not worth it.

Which is, at a minimum worth nothing (if flying in lower class of Y fares which don't accrue the 25% bonus), or a maximum of ~6,250 KF miles if flying in full earning Y or higher ....

To add to the above, the golds are irrelevant - you would be behind the PPS who actually hold some weight so even lower priority for silvers.

When you say one more flight, what type of flight is it? Would a cheapie to, eg, HKG for $250 be enough? (Have to catch the sales). Or do you need something substantially more?

I bet the $250 cheapies would only earn 10% miles...

Its almost certainly not worth mile running for Silver. Its barely worth running for Gold in this day of unlimited Priority Pass with credit cards.

I think it depends on how many miles. I like the 25% bonus.

If the OP needs only 100 miles, even the $250 earning at 10% would be adequate.

+1 vote for "don't bother."

If you do the math, OP flies "almost" 25k miles on SQ/*A a year. Assuming he maintains the same flying pattern next year, KFES is worth an additional ~6k miles.

Best case scenario - buying a $250 return to HKG - earning ~6.3k miles --> 3.97 singapore cents per mile. OP would be better off using that s$250 to apply for a new mileage card and pay the annual fee for the bonus miles.

Even if the OP travel increased next year , and ends up flying twice as much - 50k miles (and all on SQ/MI), it would still only be worth an additional ~6k miles (bonus on the first 25k miles) anything after the first 25k in a year earns the 25% bonus anyway.

A $250 flight will probably earn 10% so more like 600 miles.
I agree much better to get a decent mileage card. I suggest Citi Prestige which comes with unlimited Priority Pass for lounge for 2!

No, 10% of a return to HKG is only about 300 miles. In any event, the 6000 miles comes not from that trip - but from future travel via the 25% bonus (being silver) vs 0 bonus if not silver.

Good point.
One final reason not to worry about being Silver is that the 25% bonus is only awarded on full (or nearly full) price tickets, so I suspect most trips don't receive it anyway.
