Flight to and from Europe path over CAI???

Yeah, I was on SQ317 on Thursday 8th. We boarded on time but then sat at the gate. The pilot explained he had to file a new flight plan (twice!) due to "increased activity in the middle east". We took a dogleg south past Egypt then due east over Dubai. Sounded quite last-minute, but he said most flights to Asia would be doing it.

I would think that the shooting down of MH17 over the Ukraine has made airlines think twice about flying over current hot spots in the mideast and elsewheere.
