Tried it 2 weeks ago on fra-sin-fra and on both ways it was disappointing. Works quite ok for "what's up" etc but forget to get a proper surf experience. My connection got lost at least every 2nd minute or so. Definitely not worth it.

This week flew the A380 transatlantic and then 77W back. A380 uses old scheme of charging via On-Air. Very expensive and slow... something like $29.95 for 30MB.
The 77W uses T-mobile and was great. Decent speed and $21.95 for entire flight!

I just flew SQ1 SFO-SIN. Wireless was of acceptable speed and instead of the old On-Air package which charged by data, I could opt for a 24 hour pass for US$21.95. Contrary to the published and site, they only shut wifi down around 15 mins before landing.
Because it is valid for 24 hours, I could use the same log in credentials for SFO-HKG and HKG-SIN

I've had exactly the same experience. Consistently terrible on the A380, fantastic on 77W using T-mobile..!

Can you get a refund from Singapore if it is terrible on the A380? Flying Suite Class from JFK to FRA this Friday and would love to be online for part of the trip but don't wanna pay top dollar for what sounds like crappy service so would be happy to try it and get a refund if it indeed still sucks...

You may have some luck if you're PPS otherwise it's unlikely.
I would say don't bother. I have never, even on essentially empty flights, had what I could label vaguely acceptable WiFi on SQ.
They were handing out free WiFi codes in conjunction with Citibank in Suites last year. They were for 15mb or something silly like that but you could ask for more. Don't think they do them anymore.
