SQ Rules/Pricing For Infant in Arms on Award Ticket

My wife and I are thinking of redeeming SQ miles to Fly First on SQ LAX - SIN once we find some availability. We are expecting a baby and will likely fly with an infant-in-arms.

Does anyone here have experience how they price these awards taxes/fees for infants? Is it a flat fee? Is it a 10% of the normal fare, or full fare? Any insights are appreciated.

Just did a redemption myself for a cousin. It was 10% of regular price - no taxes, fees or fuel surcharge

Just remember that 10% of a F fare can be a lot of money. Even more than the YQ.

We have paid close to 1000$ on a BLR-FRA-BOS ticket for a lap infant in first.

OK - so to confirm the 10% of Fare is off the full F fare taxes/fees amount. If BLR - FRA - BOS is $10,000 one-way in F then the taxes/fees on the infant is $1,000... correct?

No way it'll cost that much.

Just did a dummy booking, the cost of taxes/fees for one way LAX - SIN is US$360 in F.

Your bigger problem is finding saver awards in first. I had to go all the way to July to find one and that too was one with a ridiculously long layover in Tokyo.Saver award is 91375 miles including the online 15% discount for one way LAX-SIN. The more likely standard award is 178500 miles incl the 15% online discount.

The infant fare is 10%, not just the taxes and fees.

Sorry, a litte confused here... so the infant fare is 10% + full taxes? I don't assume there is a way to pay that by miles

Btw what is the unwritten law when traveling in F with infant in arms? I dont suppose F cabin pax like bawling babies on a long-haul.

Aeroplan is the best currency for infant award travel.

No it is 10% of total full F fare. Look at a dummy commercial booking for 1 adult + 1 infant for an indication.

How much is it for Aeroplan? For Qantas, it is free for Qantas domestic, or 0 miles + low taxes for international (QF and OW + partners).

Maybe you are better off booking a full award fare for your infant if you have plenty of miles to burn?

I realize this reply is half a year late, but there is a way. You can use "pay with krisflyer miles" which burns miles at 1 cent each (e.g. for a s$1k fare, you need 100k KF miles).

Yes it's terrible value

It's the same rules - 10% of lowest available Y/PY/J/F fare on that day.
