Why doesn't SQ serve bottled water in Y?
The first time I flew SQ, I was surprised to see that they didn't serve mineral or spring water, but only filtered water.
I think it is a bit cheap for a premium airline!

You really get me rather curious now.
I was given a "Singapore Airlines" branded bottle of water (without gas) in J. No idea, if it is just filtered water or mineral water since it has a SQ brand. I must have a look again the next time.
Is filtered water cheaper than mineral water?

Perhaps they fill it up from a 1.5L bottle of mineral water in the galley to make it easier to serve?
Somehow I prefer filtered water sometimes. There are some brands of mineral water that don't taste good to me.

Frankly, I do not have that acquired taste for water. I drink it when I am thirsty. So they all taste the same (more or less) to me.
I always thought tap water (at least from the toilet) in plane are not safe for drinking.

It is tap water. I'm sorry to say this, because I love SQ, but the water they serve in Y isn't drinkable, it tastes so bad .

It is really hard to get your hands on sparkling mineral water here and if you do, you pay an arm and a leg. There is simply no market for it .
I would be surprised if they served ordinary tab water.

I know not everyone is a fan, but just ask for Soda water if you are flying in SQ Y. You'll get that in a can (frequently the black Schwepps one).
On the other hand, I don't exactly know what the difference is between 'Soda' water they serve in Y and the sparking mineral water they serve in J. I've even googled the difference in definition but am not yet finding a definitive answer on this.
