Open Skies doesn't help if there isn't sufficient landing slots at LHR.

Yeah, not everybody on the plane out of SIN is heading to JFK. And the vast majority of those who aren't continuing their journey on SQ are not staying in FRA but simply connecting to ongoing flights elsewhere.

Fifth freedoms require rights from each of the countries to permit sale of travel between them.

But it wouldn't be the UK stopping that.

With 4 daily flights to LHR split across two A380 flights and two B777 flights you would think there could be potential in using the 4 LHR slots for a thrice daily A380 SIN-LHR service and a once daily SIN-NYC rotation whilst still maintianing broadly similar capacity SIN-LHR..

Well Beolab is indeed right.

Long time ago, SQ did fly SIN-AMS/FRA-JFK. The JFK flight was transit in AMS or FRA on alternate day.

I did fly JFK-AMS-JFK on SQ. It was in 1995.

I think later in the year what lokijuh said is true. the AMS flight continue to EWR and FRA to JFK. Then SQ axed SIN-AMS-EWR in favour of nonstop SIN-EWR....

It sounds to me AMS is not a "significant" market for SQ now, as at sometimes, it was operated by lousy B772

That requires 5 slot pairs.

SIN-LHR-SIN x3
SIN-LHR-NYC
NYC-LHR-SIN

Oops. My mistake. I meant a once daily LHR-NYC rotation.

Ie, One of the 3 daily flights does SIN-LHR-NYC-LHR-SIN

Always hoping for SIN - LHR - EWR
Enjoyed the SIN - AMS - EWR routing while it lasted .
Will settle for SIN - LHR - JFK
The non stops were good while they lasted , just the wrong aircraft ( for me anyway )

I didn't say they did. I am responding to posts where people say its the UK government stopping such a route.

Not directly, but may be indirectly. Government can still "stop" it by not giving the slot right?

Which reduces seats available for SIN-LHR.
