Btw, does any know, why there are no pictures for the BTC dishes? It is so hard to decide what to order with description alone.

The appearance of BTC dishes vary over time, in my experience. I think this is due to changes made by the catering companies, but also possibly differences in servingware due to differences in aircraft type galleys and meal types for different routes. My guess is that they are preserving some leeway for themselves, since committing to an exact look for dozens and dozens of dishes for dozens and dozens of routes adds complexity that they don't want to take on nor that the customer will pay for.

yea, if the actual product differs slightly from the pic, you can imagine the number of complaints coming in

Seems that the overnight sleeper service doesn't allow BTC.
Tried to do online, and also called in the hotline but was told there's no BTC for either leg (both my flights are overnight sleeper service SIN-KIX-SIN).

Are there rules for Book the Cook; such as flight length and time of day?

Here is my itin on SQ and I called them and they said Book the Cook is not an option. :-(

Mon, 19MAY14 SQ603 I SEOUL, REPUBLIC OF SOUTH KOREA
(ICN - INCHEON) 12:20 AM SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE
(SIN) 5:40 AM A-330 *6 hour 20min flt
Flight operated by SINGAPORE AIRLINES.
Mon, 19MAY14 SQ176 I SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE
(SIN) 9:20 AM HANOI VN
(HAN) 11:40 AM A-330 *3 hour 30min flt.

Will my meal choices be ok even w/o Book the Cook?

Mahalo,

Patrick :-)

This link shows where BTC is available.

http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/fl...hecooklanding/

Here's an example of the March 2013 menu from SFO-ICN-SIN for your reference.

Thanks for the info totmode, however I do not think you understood my question.

I am fully aware of the SQ site and the book the cook meal choices and from which destinations it is offered.

Being that my business class flight originates out of SIN & has a flight time of over 6 hours; that is what confused me when the SQ agent said it was not available.

The SQ site clearly states that all flights out of SIN save for Kuala Lumpur has the book the cook option.

And thank you for menu reference; again however, I am not flying from SFO-ICN etc. (so it does not apply to me).

Patrick :-)

Book the Cook update:

Called SQ again, and Book the Cook is only available on flights of 10 hours or longer.

They should specify that on their website.

I was able to get the BTC for my SIN-ICN flight but I actually made the request in person at their ION's location here in SIN.

totmode - No worries , I am so thankful that you had responded with such great information, too bad I won't get to try the Book the Cook...SIGH

I will definitely post pics and copies of my menu when I head on my trip next May.

Gee, seems like such a long time from now; yet I know it will be here before I know it.

Mahalo from Honolulu,

Patrick

Interesting, I've always been able to BTC on short haul flights.

In February I booked it for a flight SIN-BKK.

I manage to "book my cook" for a flight from Singapore to Japan (about 7 hours flight) in May.
