Admirals Club 70th Anniversary - $70 Discounts & Parties (Aug 2009)

The Fort Worth carrier’s Admirals Club is turning 70, and American is celebrating with birthday cake, champagne and prizes at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.

[...]

And as part of the birthday sweepstakes, customers can register to win a vacation to Maui, a trip to Orlando, Fla., a night at a Hollywood movie premier or a lifetime membership to the Admirals Club lounges. Customers will also get a $70 discount off annual membership, which usually costs $300 to $825, depending on the type.

But don’t expect to be invited to the party unless you’re already planning to fly Monday. The party is being held at a minilounge that the airline has set up near the departure gate [D23] for Flight 70 from D/FW to Frankfurt, Germany.

We're going through on Friday. If they still have cake left over, I don't want any...

Cheers.

At San Jose? With the additional flight cuts announced there, don't you think there's more of a chance the club will be closed versus expanded?

They're pouring bubbly in the FRA AC today (10 Aug) too.

And when I was here in FRA on the 29th, it was the 20th anniversary of the club itself.

Are they offering discounts for renewal there, too? My doesn't come up until January so doesn't look like any of these will benefit me in August.

I was wondering what was going on. I was walking past that gate to go into the Admirals Club and saw about 8 tables with red table linens and a few other tables setup and 3-5 large flower decorations. No one was there though so they must still be setting up. Bummer I am so close, yet still won't be able to experience it!

Too bad they won't be celebrating at the LAS club later this month. Oh yeah, there isn't one there
It's time for my membership renewal... would love to have had the discount mentioned in the article. Too bad.
(Edited: $70 off renewal IS available to us - see below)

For everyone else traveling there today, enjoy!
