Indications are that this new 737 configuration will begin flying ORD-MSP, ORD-LAX, ORD-DEN, ORD-LAS, ORD-FLL, ORD-PHL.

While those are indeed new 737 services from ORD there is nothing to indicate the these routes will see the/and alternately configured 737s.

It'll be nice to see a few planes with standard AC plugs. I'm sure I'll be dead and buried before I won't have to carry two power cords. But I find that on certain flights, the Mac power cords don't behave well with all the power ports on AA. Never run into this problem on other airlines, although most of my flying is with AA.

It doesn't appear that AA has updated the seat map on Our Planes 737 or when you try to view a seat map for any of these flights*:
ORD-MSP AA1565 dep 645
MSP-ORD AA1247 dep 900
ORD-LAX AA1247 dep 1110
LAX-ORD AA1624 dep 230
*these were some of the flights listed as likely candidates for the new 738.
In trying to view the seat map for the above brings up an error message stating "We are unable to display the requested seat map for this flight...".
In this past, this was a sign of the likelyhood of a new seating configurations (such as when 763 had NGBC & OBC, 777 Suites/Coffins).

I suspect that when AA looked for available tail numbers for the 737-823s that were coming into the fleet, almost all availble tail numbers ending in AN were available. Two of the first group of 737-823s have tail numbers that end in AA-i.e. N951AA and N952AA. When I looked up N952AN, it was assigned to a 1965 Piper, and N951AN was assigned to another small plane made in the early 1970s.
It looks like AA will use numbers in the 800s for many of these 737s entering the fleet a number of years from now according to a listing on CH aviation.

And a list of AA 738s on order:

In the latter case, there are a few ending in AM, because the corresponding AN registries are already taken.
