What the heck is happening to F (aka, I wanted to deck a guy in F)
Well, they say that money doesn't buy class, but I guess it does buy first class seats. I don't want to sound elitist, but the people in F are so much lower class than they used to be. On several occasions lately, I've sat in the vicinity of some rude, obnoxious, foul-mouthed turd. In fact, there were two behind me last night from CLT-BUF. One had his knees jammed into my back so I couldn't recline. When he got up, BAM! I reclined, and he proceeded to complain the entire rest of the flight and continually bang the back of my seat. He and his seatmate (they were strangers) used foul language during the entire flight. How they got in F is beyond me. I would have loved to tell him off, but that would be lowering myself to his level. If it was a longer flight, I definitely would have gotten the FA involved. The woman sitting next to me looked at me and sighed, "First class just isn't what it used to be." A friend of mine had a drunk guy in the seat next to her in F recently, and he was watching porn on his laptop and trying to get her to watch it as well. She complained and the FA had someone switch seats with her.
What has happened to F? It's so disappointing...I can't even plan on having a relaxing flight anymore. Now the only thing to look forward to is a drink. Big whoop.

Were you flying US? Sounds like some of Doug Parker’s beloved “leisure travelers”.

Mr Parker &Co have been very successful in attracting "just the right" crowd of passengers, to match the airline's "quality."

You will find these types everywhere
While I like to take shots at USAIR when they deserve it, this happens to be the case when they do not. You will find people like this on all carriers from time to time. Stupid,Crazy and Rude do not discriminate they fly all airlines. And by the way they are multiplying. My wife and I had one of these types next to us once very foul language around women and children. We were in
1st class on another carrier (TALT) when he got worse and used a term some would say worse than the F-bomb. At that time I politely but firmly asked to be keep quite, or I would knock him out. Other passengers joined in at that time and we had no more troble from him.

Exactly... these passengers have been there all along - on just about every airline. My bet is they're also part of the "Do You Know Who I Am?" crowd, too.
Also, as a side note (and not to defend the offender), if the person behind you is tall (at 6'5" it happens to me on AA, CO, DL, and US) and slouches slightly, a fully reclined seat will smash their knees. There are better ways to go about it than hitting your seat, though. Also, bear in mind that on CO, DL, and US you almost HAVE to slouch a bit or you have no headrest. AA's adjustable headrests fix this problem nicely.

I was flying F on AA and they were trying to pre-board a very old woman in a wheel chair when an obnoxious business-woman cut in front pushing the old lady back saying "I'm in first, i should board now" - they let her.
also on UA, granted in coach, was a man who complained that the person next to him had a sleeping lap baby and he would not sit next to her and as a frequent flyer on another airline he couldn't understand why he wasn't given what he wanted... etc... - the gate agent almost gave him an exit row aisle in E+ - the only other seat available on the plane - but the FA wouldn't allow it (she didn't want him in exit because she didn't think he'd listen to her in case of emergency). They told him either take his seat, find someone in the back of the plane to change with, or take another flight. Someone at the back changed with him....
the point being crummy people fly every airline... and while US may have more than their share, ALL airlines have them.

Welcome to my world.
They're almost as bad as the f/c wannabes, the ones that shove their coat in my face when they board and when I ask them their seat they say 15C. Or the ones that board and drop their bags at my feet and say "deal with this". I love when they get on and demand we check their bags when we know there is ample space for it, they just don't want to deal with it. Of course, they never say where they want it checked to.
I love f/c on the shuttle, they're all regulars and know how to behave. I flew a few Florida turns this past week and was ready to hang myself, can't get back to the shuttle fast enough!!

While this is an unfortunate situation there are a** holes in the world that fly just like the rest of us and you may end up being seated in the same cabin as them. It is your right to recline your seat. If he didn't want to deal with that he should have gotten a bulkhead and its not your fault he didn't. In the case of a man watching porn next to your friend the Police should have been called especially since the man was trying to get your friend to watch it.

Not to defend US, since I seldom fly with them. However this is possible on airlines, unfortunately even in international F.

Just be courteous about recline - if one doesn't go all the way back it's not an issue. But recline into my knees in Y and there will be a problem. Especially if one does it over and over again with increasing force.

I disagree. One has all the right to have full recline for the whole duration of the flight except during landing or take off. If your legs are too long to tolerate the recline, you might need to purchase 2 seats just like those who need more space.
