Flyertalk "Translator"

I got tired of referring to the glossary at http://flyertalk.com/glossary/ , so I wrote a "translator" for FT posts. Figured somebody else might be interested in it too

If you click "show example" it will translate the paragraph on the glossary page. Otherwise you just paste the text that you want translated.

The translations show as tooltips, so just mouse over or click them (depending on your browser). It's case-insensitive so it gets some false positives (e.g. the word "am" shows a tooltip for "AeroMexico") but it's been helping me learn.

Tested on FireFox/Mac and IE/Win. PHP code free-to-share if anybody wants to improve it (PM me). It was like a 20-minute hack job. It doesn't know airport codes at the moment.

I like the way it turns the word "am" into AeroMexico.

This is exactly what FT needs! Maybe there is a way to embed this translator directly into the website.

This needs to be forwarded to the big man upstairs^^

I just fixed a typo that kept the paste-and-translate from working on IE 6. Don't have IE 7 to test with (I'm a web coder, but usually work on server-side stuff) but I'll see if I can grab someone who does.

That would be pretty simple for Firefox users -- using GreaseMonkey. That was actually my first thought, but it didn't seem generic enough. PM me if you want it. Give me enough requests and I'll code it. This stuff is quick and simple enough.

I also have some fun apps using the Kayak API that will be public soon. I'll post when they're ready.
