As if Economy class weren't tight enough...

It's an interesting concept and in principle it could work, but the armrests seem like they would be quite tricky, and staring at the other passengers (eating, sleeping, picking their noses, whatever) for 5 hours on a transcon just doesn't seem all that great.

Was it the author's first article on travel?
They do? Where? I want to fly with that airline.
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
When it comes to rethinking the cabin of your modern jumbo jet, innovations usually involve enhancing the travel experience by offering more leg room, better entertainment, tastier food, etc
less popular, it seems, are attempts to minimize those few square feet of unprofitable breathing room by packing even more people into what already feels like a flying sardine tin

Sigh ...
Flying in our lifetime has gone from being one of the most pleasant, exciting, and glamorous activities in life to being one of the most uncomfortable, repellent, and disgusting, and now they're figuring out ways to make it even worse.

"Freedom" to do what?
Is might just be me, but it seems recently that anytime someone has a bad idea that they want to sell or make more palatable to the public, they tag the term "freedom" on to it.

Reminds me of a worse copy of the BA Club World. I'm sure it won't be long before airlines are putting these in. The consumer has made the decision that we want the cheapest flying buses we can get and the market is meeting our demands.

I'll fly an arrangement like that on BA where there are privacy screens and space - but not if I have to stare at someone I don't know and don't want to know for a 14 hour flight big
