I'd imagine that this offer only applies to Y; probably won't have as much space to fill in C or F.

T&C's...

1) Offer: 45,000 miles for Economy Saver Award booking; valid for journeys between the 48 contiguous United States and Sydney or Melbourne. Offer is only valid on United, TedSM and United Express® operated flights, but not to flights operated by other airlines (such as United-marketed code share and Star Alliance® flights). Roundtrip travel is required.

2) If you choose to use an award for one-way travel, no residual credit will be issued for unused segments. No stopovers permitted.

3) Travel is valid between February 1, 2006 through May 15, 2006.

4) All ticketing must be made through united.com and complete by February 28, 2006.

5) Award space is subject to availability and capacity-control restrictions apply. Since award space is booked in a special class of service, it may not be available on all flights or on all days of the week when you choose to travel.

6) Travel on award tickets is not subject to mileage accrual.

7) Not combinable with other offers.

8) No upgrades are permitted on award travel bookings.

9) Changes are permitted in advance through United Reservations. After an award ticket is issued, a $100 service charge may be imposed for each change requested by the member which necessitates the re-issuance of the ticket. Changes to the date or flight time will not result in a service charge provided changes are made within the valid dates of this offer and the same cities are traveled. If the ticket is exchanged for travel outside of the validity period, the mileage will be credited back into the member account for the applicable $100 service charge, and a new ticket issued at the appropriate miles for the new award.10) Award tickets are subject to applicable departure taxes, federal inspection fees, passenger facility charges, and other fees, charges or taxes, and the person utilizing the award is responsible for the payment of any such items that may apply. Any valid unused award ticket or certificate may be returned to the Mileage Plus Service Center for a service charge.

11) There are no blackout dates.

12) You may purchase the reduced award on united.com only.

13) Offer subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

sounds like a great deal if any seats are left.

But what is their motivation for offering this out of the blue on such a revenue generating route? Just curious.

Liability reduction? Reward to FF's for sticking with UA through BK? Who knows...

Still not seeing any inkling of this deal.....all searches still come up at 60K, whether through provided link or through main award search page. Hmmm...

there was probably 10 seats total available. not a smart thing to promote to everyone. but that's OK, i'm amazed there's a lot of saver awards available to go to syd.

From what I read of the promo, it sounds like ALL award seats are 45K, not just a couple. Like the reduced awards for shorter flights, this sounds like an attempt to get people to burn miles on an off season route. If awards are available at 60K, you should be able to get it for 45K. I'd call.

I have double checked and it does not appear to be officially announced or active on united.com, even though the T&Cs say it starts February 1st. You may want to call and try to get it reserved, in any case, if you are about to book, you should take the probable availability of this promo into consideration.

Has anyone tried CALLING?

Perhaps the web page meant to say that the award could not be booked online (missing word 'not'), which would explain why the page says that the $15 award booking fee would be waived?

If that were the case the website would still price out @ 60k even if the promo was valid... calling might yield 45k?

Not going to ring 'em since i have no interest in flying to SYD or MEL in Y.
