Puerto Rico Do 2 -> Jan. 19-21, 2007

Back by popular demand. Last year we had a great time in Puerto Rico, so I have decided to go for seconds and have another Puerto Rico DO.

NO US PASSPORT NEEDED.

This year we will explore more of the natural island sites outside of the San Juan Metro Area. More details to come.

Dates: January 19-21, 2007 (Great Weekend-Nice cool temperatures)
Hotel: Pick your Own

Hotels:
Intercontinental Resort and Casino
Marriott Stelaris Resort and Casino
Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde
Courtyard Miramar
Hampton Inn
Embassy Suites
Best Western Pierre
Sheraton Old San Juan
Normandie Hotel

Sites:

Friday, Jan 19th

Welcome Drinks (8pm - 10pm)
Location: Marriott Hotel Lobby

Saturday, Jan 20th

Cordillera Central - On our way down to Ponce will have a scenic drive through the Central Mountain Range, the mountains divide Puerto Rico between North and South. Great picture taking drive. Snap Snap

Seralles Castle Museum- The Serrallés Castle is a magnificent Spanish Revival mansion, built in 1930 for the Serrallés family, owners of the Don Q rum distillery. The antique furnishings recall the era of the sugar barons. A short film tracing the history of the rum and sugar industries enhances your visit.

Ponce Museum of Art- Art lovers should not miss the fine collection of more than 850 paintings, 800 sculptures, and 500 prints culled from five centuries of Western art that is featured here. The building alone, which was designed by famed architect Edward Durrel Stone.

Lunch
Hacienda Juanita - Carr. 105, Maricao, PR
Cliffside Restaurant surrounded by the Maricao National Forest

Cabo Rojo Light House - One of its best-known attractions is the lighthouse at Playa Sucia, still in operation. It was built by the Spanish in the late 19th century, shortly before Puerto Rico was turned over to the United States as spoils of the Spanish-American War.What do you see besides an empty building? A spectacular view of a magnificent beach, the unbelievably blue waters of the Caribbean, and amazing cliffs. This is the place for classic photographs of a brilliant white lighthouse, shimmering in a picture postcard setting.

Phosphorescent Bay (Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico)-Imagine the blackness of the sea on a moonless night. Now watch it sparkle with the darting lights of a million fireflies. Nature lovers will not want to miss the phenomenal experience of visiting a tropical phosphorescent bay! Weather Permitting

Dinner:
Tony's Seafood- Joyudas, PR
They make the best Monfongo. Seafood/Poultry/Steaks/Salad

Sunday, Jan 21

Morning
Bacardi Tour- The Bacardi Rum Distillery, the largest in the world, is only a 15-minute drive from San Juan and is one of the most popular visitors’ destinations in Puerto Rico.

Afternoon
Old San Juan- For those still in San Juan Sunday, we will take a walking tour of Old San Juan. Mostly a repeat of the tour we did during Puerto Rico DO 1

Dinner
Ajili Mojili - Ave. Ashford # 1052, Condado, PR

Monday, Jan 22

Plaza Las Americas- If you are still around Monday, I will be going to the largest Mall in the Caribbean.

Driving:

The driving will be again be my task. We will have an 15 passenger van.
Departure from San Juan, January 20th, 2007 will be at 8:00am. Hotel Lobby.

me too

PR Do 1 was a lot of fun. So I'd definately be up for a reprise, provided the fares, flights & stars align.

With the current fare wars that CO and Jetblue have from NYC to SJU, I'm sure you can make it happend.

This time will be an event pack with more fun and adventures than the last one.

I don't want anyone mentioning the word "Hurricane". No Hurricanes are planned for our event.
