It looks like FLYI employees will be receiving notices that they will be laid off effective Jan 5. Here's a link:

Do you realize that is just a GOSSIP lounge. Nothing on there is certain.

This is also JUST a gossip lounge. However, there are enough factual posts from both the ACA lounge and this forum to bear some credence.
And quite frankly, I'm amazed that FLYI has remained open this long. It had to be the stupidest business model I've seen in a LONG time.
I do realize that this is JUST A GOSSIP lounge as well. DUH. I guess I should have added don't believe it til you see it. Are you an employee? Have you seen the letters?

No, not an employee of FLYI (although I suspect that you are). I'm not employed by FLYI or any other airline. And, no, I haven't seen the letters.

You seem to be rather touchy on this issue; all I was doing was posting the latest rumors. If you had read the thread that I posted a link to, someone DID claim to have seen the letters, including that they were signed by someone in HR.

Tell ya what, I'm done 'discussing' this matter with you, ILv2Fly. You win. Here's your prize:

Thanks for the Info.
Pot stirrer. :-)

Seriously, all sorts of wild rumours fly on the ACA Lounge. Of course, you never know....
Pilots are posting today that they received their furlough letters today: "effective Jan 7th, without "significant" investment in all or most of assests they plan on ceasing all operations between Jan 7th and the 21st of Jan".

I hope the company doesn't do what Midway did, and strand their crews without ID's and no way to get home.
The letters have gone out and been recieved by FAs and Pilots. Nice Christmas and New Years gift.

Well, it's confirmed that FLYI is laying off all of it's employees.

I posted this to save fellow flyertalkers the hassle of buying a FLYI ticket, and then having to turn around and buy another one when FLYI closes it's doors.
They will be truly missed. Can't wait to see what UAL starts charging for IAD-GSO.

Suddenly I feel very smart for booking tickets on UA for my 1/3 and 1/10 flights.

I got the willies early and booked the flights a few days back. I'm sure that those UA loads will jump now that DH will be out of the picture. Lets see what happens to the fares.
I just flew DH this weekend (on full planes, natch) and marveled again at the efficiency of the operation. The IAD concourse was packed with travellers. The employees were in good spirits.
