Although this is not about Star Alliance RTW tickets, I, as a Star Alliance customer, would find it interesting to understand the differences, advantages and disadvantages of this RTW ticket compared to *A RTW tickets - perhaps it could make a lot of sense to combine two of these. Therefore, thanks for posting this here. It will probably be moved, but I would have never found it if you had not posted it here. Thanks.
As attorney28 pointed already out, there are no *A carriers participating on this fare, therefore I am moving this thread to Wings. Please continue to discuss this topic here.

I would be very curious - since Emirates flies to CAI, is there a pricing for this kind of ticket ex CAI? If it is similarly attractively priced as Star and Oneworld RTW tickets ex CAI, this could be VERY interesting - since the participating airlines here cover very interesting routes (South Africa - South America, Mauritius, Panama, etc...).

How could I find out the rate for this one?
Thanks for the link. I observed this RTW since a long time - but had no time to do it untill now. The addition of Malev is new (other sites still list the old partners).

The big advantage of this RTW is the coverage of Africa and India. The disadvantage is the weak coverage of South America (COPA) and Australia/New Zealand (Air Pacific).
KLM (see overview) / Northwest / Continental / Malaysian / Alaska / ... FFP are needed. Some "exotic" airlines like Emirates and Air Pacific will require a second FFP - or avoid these airlines.
The cheapest tickets should be available at the known places: South Africa, Egypt, ?.
Alright, I just called Continental in the US and it took the agent what seemed like half an hour to figure it out (no kidding http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif), but here are the fares ex CAI and they look extremely good - might be a reason for me not to book my second RTW on Oneworld, actually:

35,000 CRWWJ35 19,400
40,000 CRWWJ40 22,780

That's, as of today, 3,327 Euro for 40,000 miles in business class!!

The 10 stopovers is a bit of a bummer (although one can "buy" additional stopovers for $ 100), but in contrast to Oneworld and Star Alliance, there does not seem to be a maximum segment limit so far!

Now, if someone could quickly find out which of the FFPs involved is the best to

- gain status quickly (does any of them comp Star Gold??)
- gain maximum mileage through hundreds of short flights and huge status boni http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
- offers the best benefits and rewards,

and

- which of the airlines is recommended to fly on, which ones one should avoid, etc... (I was a CO Elite member a few years ago when I was still flying to Houston on a regular basis and I'm still in the Onepass program and the Flying Dutchman program),

I might be off to flying Wings soon! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

If anyone wants to start planning their RTW trip already...(the 35k mile RTW business fare is equivalent to 2,833 Euro!), here is the electronic timetable:

http://www.klm.com/generic/download/...dTimetable.exe

Edit: It does not include all the partner airlines apparently, only KLM and NW...but it comes with a pretty neat screen saver (almost as nice as the Star Alliance screen saver).

Couldn't find a timetable for Air Pacific, but here is their route map...looks like some nice options there! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

http://www.airpacific.com/holiday/routemap.cfm
What are the "areas" for the purpose of this fare?
Here are all the destinations served by Malaysia Airlines - some interesting ones such as Male, Mauritius...

http://www.malaysiaairlines.com.my/t...=de&mode=mas01

Noteworthy also that there are flights CAI-KUL. Also, there are flights CAI-AMS with KLM, so there should be plenty of ways to get out of CAI in both directions with a RTW ticket here.

Thanks attorney28 for doing such a fantastic work! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif
The fare ex CAI really seems worth thinking about. Compared to *Alliance (RTW3) the 40,000 RTW is ca. 4000 EGP / 590 EUR cheaper.
Thanks Attorney28 You have truly understood the purpose of my posting this thraed and contributed enormously with meticulous research.

We all seem to be mesmerised by Star and One world RTW fares which go on increasing almost to ridiculous levels and pose lots of restrictions. They are also full of either bankrupt or near bankrupt airlines Here is a viable alternative particularly attractive from Cairo, may not be in ultra deluxe airlines such as SQ or bankrupt airlines such as UA or near nakrupt ones such as AA but in good solvent airlines such as Emirates, MAS, CO, NW/KLM and connections within India with Jet and in Africa with Kenyan and SA. I think 2800 and 3300 euros for 35000 and 40000 miles are excellent value and if you need more than 10 stop overs you can always buy them at 100 dollars each
I just noiced an interesting exception to the stop over limit. It appears an addtional 8 stop overs may be available
"Maximum 10 free stopovers permitted.
Exception 1: A maximum of 5 free within Continental U.S. / Alaska / Hawaii / Canada / U.S. Virgin Islands / Puerto Rico / Mexico.
Exception 2: A maximum 2 free in Europe plus 1 additional free in Amsterdam.
"
Is my interpretation correct? there is no way you can avail 8 stop overs in US and Europe and have a total of only 10 stop overs all over the world. I feel you may have 18 stop overs

I wish you were right, but I am afraid that this interpretation is not correct. The "exception" is a restriction, not an add-on.

Quick trivia question...the first one to know (or even have been to) all these airport codes gets a free drink...

The following routing is possible with this RTW ticket - all flights in business class, total cost (excluding taxes and fees) about 3,300 Euro:

CAI-xNBO-SEZ-xNBO-xJNB-CPT-EZE-xPTY-CCS-xPTY-UIO-xPTY-SJO-xPTY-xGUA-xIAH-NAS-xIAH-HNL-xMAJ-xKWA-xKSA-xPNI-xTKK-xGUM-ROR-xMNL-xKUL-MLE-xDXB-CAI

If you want to see how that looks on the map... http://makeashorterlink.com/?D2CF12484

Admittedly, I like exotic locations and beaches... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif.

I'd probably never really do this one, it's just to show that this RTW seems to offer some interesting routings not possible with the other carriers...
