Chocolate and the City Ticket Office, a great combination!

Once again, my company sent me a ticket on F9 instead of UA. Since I had such great success last week having my CTO exchange it for a UA ticket, I thought I would try it again. I didn't want to push my luck so I took the advice of some of my fellow FlyerTalkers and brought along a couple of heart shaped boxes full of chocolate! I made it clear that they were not a bribe but a thank you for the service provided last week. Both of the ladies said' yeah right, what do you want this time!" and we all laughed. My F9 ticket was changed to UA without any hassle and no additional cost.

See ... I told you so (chocolates, even non-swiss-brands can do the trick)!

Nothing wrong with being sweet, but I'd rather live in a society where bribes and kickbacks are not the norm (actually I have lived in such an environment too).

I pulled a "Rudi" in ALB last month and after NW re-assigned my flight to HKG on UA (after a weather-related cancellation) I gave the UA agent a box of European chocolates for his assistance in getting my wife and I exit row seats (we were flying coach with a NW vacation package). He couldn't assign seats for the NRT-HKG segment and told us to try our luck in NRT. Once there, we were paged almost immediately and given BC upgrades for the remaining flight. Luck or chocolates? You judge.
I now travel with a supply of chocolates ready to be handed out to those wonderful GA's.
