2348 SAT-MDW: Oops forgot to finish AD check last night

Waiting for 2348 SAT-MDW, which is delayed but at the gate in SAT. After more delay, through passengers are let off.

Gate agent announces they were doing an inspection for an FAA AD last night in Dallas, but apparently forgot to complete it and the plane flew DAL-SAT in the morning anyway. Apparently, upon realizing the mistake, they had to fly in maintenance from HOU to complete the check, as it is something line maintenance in SAT can't do, resulting in a 3 hour delay.

Did they screw up by flying DAL-SAT this morning?

This doesn't sound like that big of a deal. Probably not more than $1,000,000 fine.
