New Shorthaul Cabins

As in the title, new SH cabins fit has been announced, with a 2:2 club fit with a centre console between the two seats. Also onboard 4G wifi is planned.

British Airways has unveiled the interior refit of its A320-family of aircraft, as part of a package of changes to make short-haul profitable.

Fitting-out starts this week on the first of the 95 A320-family aircraft, with new designs inspired by the airlines most recent fleet entrants, the A380 and Boeing 787.

The elegant charcoal grey leather seats are slimmer and ergonomically designed to enable extra seats in the Eurotraveller cabin to allow more low fares.

The innovative design maximises personal space and comfort, with chair backs devised to provide more knee space for the customer behind. Customers can also make use of an eye-level seatback tablet-holder, which can also provide storage for magazines. A four-way moveable headrest provides comfort and support. And the seat-back table moves in and out to provide optimum positioning.

Club Europe maintains its 2:2 configuration with the middle seat free. The seats will be bridged with a new central console table, providing Club customers with improved space.

LED lighting systems, inspired by the airlines newest long-haul cabins, will include blue tones for boarding, a relaxing candlelit mood for the meal service and a restful gentle white for cruising and landing. Plans are also underway to install Wi-Fi on many European short-haul services.

Interesting - any pictures? Sounds like an evolution of the bmi seats - I have to say I find them better in CE because you have the nice little table for your G&T, rather than those silly cocktail armrest things on the old BA CE seats.

Where is the quote from?

Sounds interesting for CE but terrible for ET ("[s]limmer and ergonomically designed to enable extra seats"). Without seeing what it looks like, I have a hard time envisioning how a 'console table' will improve space in CE.

If they are anything like the slimline seats on LH, then they will not be good news. Think park bench.

So basically its the ex-BMI seats and layout, with a pillow glued to the top of the seat.

Sounds wonderful!

So, if Easyjet were to allow you to buy a seat next to you - the products would be virtually the same? #baracetothebottom

Loss of the 'converter' seats won't please everyone

This is the bmi version

(note: in this picture the seats have been set up incorrectly, the middle armrests should be flush with the console allowing a wider seat for A & C.)

The cocktail table is very useful to put your drink on and use the tray table to work with a laptop and is especially good for ET and Domestic.

Exactly my first question too! Would be good to know if the pitch stays the same in CE - really hope so!!! Is one of my key drivers for booking CE!

BTW, thanks for the information Waterhorse! ^

Well, I actually *like* the Lufthansa seats (I know I'm in the minority).
