Does anyone know what planes Eagle is supposed to get this year?

NOTE: Being customer codes can reveal information as well: AA is 23 (ergo the "777-223ER") and US is B7.

AA B767-223ER went to "the boneyard" at ROW 16 Feb 2015. (vorellanaj)

AA / US Fleet & Aircraft Changes 2015 on (Discussion and Speculation)

This thread is devoted to Fleet Changes discussion between AA and US.

It will take some time for the company to flush out what aircraft are going where, if any additional aircraft are to get retired, etc.

But feel free to post away here as to how you see things happening in the new airline

Bring me MCE! Even if former US Silvers just get a discount like AA GLD, I'd be happy with that. I can't tell you how much better it makes a TCON with a toddler when the 3 of us have the whole row and the extra room for her.

And I do hope we continue to see the E175 on the USX routes. I still say the USX E175 bulkhead is the best coach bulkhead seat anywhere.

Just arrived in LAX on 762 from JFK. Enjoyed F seating but boy are these birds beaten up. Looking forward to 321T in the new year.

I'm still sticking with my initial position that the newish AA livery will be the livery for the combined airline.

US has a LOT of CR2s. Was there any talk/plan pre-merger of drawing down that number?

Doubtful. We've started to see "renovated" CRJ200's coming out of Air Wisconsin. Can't imagine they'd be renovating them if they were to get rid of them. AW only flies for US, so there's nowhere else those birds are going.

I don't know about that. Parker and/or Kirby must not like it, or they would have simply said, "It's new, it's being implemented, it's what we're going with."

Maybe they think the design is too expensive to implement across the fleet? (a la Delta's change a few years back)

They're not the type to change it just to have their 'mark' on the new airline. And certainly not if it costs a lot of money. So there must be something behind the current, "It's under review," stance.

My guess is that all 762s will be gone by the end of summer. AA plans to have them "decommissioned" by June. But US seems to have them doing extra summer service (although fewer flights next summer than this past one-- so apparently some will be retired by then). However, that could still change now that AA's 763s are part of the mix. I suspect the 734s are in their sunset years. I don't think they will be ringing in the 2015 New Year at US. And US's 752s? That's a good one. They only have about two dozen of them. But they do use the same RR engines as AA. The only difference is the door configurations. I actually prefer US's for transatlantic flights (in Y) because of the lavatories at the 3 L/R doors, and not near the back galley. It makes it easier for FAs and Pax IMO.

While I felt very nostalgic today on a JFK LAX AA 762, they really are worn out.

I have read that by mid-year, US Airbus deliveries will have AA configurations -- I assume that refers to the A321s, since there's obviously no AA A330 today. Given the number of A321s US has scheduled for delivery, that could accelerate retirement of the AA 762s.

I can't verify this information, but the following was posted over at a.net:

2014 deliveries (AA):

20x 737-800
35x A32x series (A319/A321)
6x 777-300ER
2x 787-800

2014 deliveries (US):

17x A321
3x A330-200

2014 retirements (US):

14x 737-400
4x A320
3x 767-200

I believe that is all the 737-400s that US has left in the fleet. I believe the other 7 US 762s are currently scheduled for retirement in 2015.

I don't see what the number of US A321 deliveries has to do with the retirement of AA's 3-class 762s. By June 14, all AA 3-class transcons (JFK-LAX/SFO) will be flown by new A321Ts, and presumably all remaining AA 762s will be retired by then. The US A321s will be configured in 2-classes with about 187 seats compared to AA's 3-class 102 seat configuration.

Hard to believe that the other 7 762s will be retired in 2014 as well. Unless the pilot contracts are redone, US' current agreement stipulates a minimum fleet count. Very much doubt they have the room to retire another 7 aircraft without a similar number of replacements.

Wouldn't the 332s delivered this year and next satisfy that? US will have 15 332s on property by the summer. There have only been 10 762s at US for quite a number of years.

That should do it. There should be 5 A332 deliveries for 2013 by the end of the month (4 delivered so far) with none of the 10 767-200ER retired yet. Somewhere recently (Q3 earnings call maybe?) it was stated that at least some 762 leases had been extended into late 2014.
