Citi AA credit cards, except Executive. (2013-2014)

Quote: Does anyone know if the 2x points you get for shopping on AA includes all purchases on AA.com? i.e - If I Book an Alaska Airlines flight on AA.com do I still get 2x points for that using any of these AA cards that advertise 2x points?
Definitely not all purchases on aa.com. It has to bill to AA. For example, buying miles bills to points.com, so it doesn't count.

The typical offer says:
Earn double American Airlines AAdvantage miles.6 Earn 2 AAdvantage miles for every $1 you spend on eligible American Airlines purchases.6

6 Double Miles on American Airlines Purchases: You will earn two American Airlines AAdvantage miles per $1 spent on eligible purchases made with your Citi / AAdvantage card for items billed by American Airlines as merchant of record. Only the primary cardmember is eligible to earn miles. Products or services that do not qualify are car rentals, hotel reservations, American Airlines Vacation Packages, purchases of American Airlines AAdvantage miles, duty free purchases and AA CargoSM products and services. In addition, you will not earn double AAdvantage miles on purchases of US Airways flights except for US Airways codeshare flights booked on aa.com. AAdvantage bonus miles will be posted to your AAdvantage account 8–10 weeks after a qualifying purchase.
If you buy an Alaska codeshare flight (with an AA flight number), then it's going to billed to AA. If you buy an Alaska flight with an Alaska flight number, I doubt it, because Alaska would be the same situation as US Airways and they just spelled that out above, that it has to be a codeshare.

Buying an Alaska flight on aa.com with an Alaska flight number means Alaska, not AA, is getting paid, except for perhaps some sales commission for selling it on the aa.com site. It's no different than buying an Alaska flight on a third-party travel service.
4506-T Box 6 help
Just got a 4506-T in the mail to return.

This isn't my first experience with the form and Citi, but there was no pre-filled Box checked off for 6, which there needs to be.

I believe every time in the past, I've seen one. This, coupled with the fact that they have my 2013 tax year requested, makes me think Citi just did a new form and hasn't caught the error.

Of course, you can't get a specialist in the area, and I don't trust them to check the box themselves before sending in (plus, I don't think they can legally want you to leave it open).

So, has anyone gotten one of these lately and can you tell me whether they had a box checked on your form?

Thanks.
Hello,

I just signed up for the Citi AA Platinum Personal Mastercard, 50,000 miles card and called customer service to confirm benefits. The rep confirmed the 50k bonus after 3k, but could not confirm any other benefits. Now I am confused because the landing page does not list the benefits, but the link from thepointsguy web site takes me to the summary page before the landing page for this card, which states 50k plus the following:

-Get the first eligible bag checked free for you and up to 4 travel companions.
-Enjoy Group 1 boarding and use the extra time to prepare for your flight.
-Earn a $100 American Airlines Flight Discount each year of cardmembership in which you spend $30,000 or more in purchases and renew your cardmembership.
-Earn AAdvantage miles for using AAdvantage miles. Earn 10% of your redeemed AAdvantage miles back up to 10,000 AAdvantage miles each calendar year.
-Earn 2 AAdvantage miles for every $1 you spend on eligible American Airlines purchases4 and 1 AAdvantage mile for every $1 spent on other purchases
-Receive a 25% savings on in-flight food and beverage purchases when you use your Citi / AAdvantage card.
-Fly using fewer AAdvantage miles with Reduced Mileage Awards!
-Travel with ease and enjoy global acceptance with your Citi chip credit card.

Can anyone confirm these other benefits are included when using the link to this card in the wiki?

Every Citi AA Platinum Personal Mastercard has those benefits. It does not matter what link you used or when you received your card.

Thanks! That is what I assumed. I am not sure why the rep could not confirm them.
Use Targeted Offer or Best Offer?
Need some advice on CitiBusiness AAdvantage Cards. Back in January our business had 2 cards, mine + another employee. The old CitiBusiness AAdvantage rule used to be a total of 3 cards per business, so I took a chance and another employee applied for a 3rd card for the business, and was declined. I immediately cancelled one of the cards and sent a reconsideration letter. I also called the reconsideration line to no avail. I was first told the denial was because our business had “the maximum number of accounts” that Citi will issue to a business. Then, even after the first was cancelled and that was no longer the case, I was given various reasons for denial. They insinuated that it was because the company had previous cards in the past that had been cancelled and interpreted “maximum number of accounts” to mean over time and not to be speaking of the present. Based on prior experience, I feel that’s not the case. I should add this was the first time we have ever been denied a card where we were unsuccessful in its appeal.

After reading the posts about the 2 different account numbers, I logged in to the old accounts and saw the old credit limits, etc., still visible. I called to ensure both corporate and individual account numbers were fully cancelled, and even though they assured me they had been, asked for letters to be sent. The phone rep also mentioned something about CitiBusiness reporting closures only to Dunn & Bradstreet. The letters arrived and confirm both have been cancelled.

We want to reapply for a CitiBusiness AAdvantage Card. I’m assuming that another employee (me) with the only remaining business card won’t hinder the new application. Since closing the previous card, the other employee who will be applying has received 3 emails from AAdvantage with targeted offers for a CitiBusiness AAdvantage Card. The offers are 10,000 miles less miles than the best-50K-offer on this Thread (30K miles after $750, then 10K more miles after $5K spent in 6 months). So, $2,750 more would need to be spent for 10,000 less miles than the best offer available. I am assuming we will be approved for the targeted offers, but am not so sure if we should go with the better --- untargeted --- offers on this Thread after the way we were treated by the those who responded to our letter. (Has anyone ever been denied who was sent a targeted offer?)

My questions are:
1)Should we try the better offer or should we play it safe with the targeted offer?
2)Also, we can wait on the application to give more time for all of the closures/old credit limits to clear (although I assume they already had since most accounts were cancelled years ago, but one never knows and the new confirmation letters were sent in recent weeks). The last application was more than 95 days ago and the 2nd card was cancelled the same day. There is now only 1 business card for the business. Are we safe to apply now, or should we wait?

THANKS!

UPDATE:
Re-applied after 105 days. At the end of the process, told to call. They put us on hold for nearly 20 minutes, then informed us that the business has had too many AAdvantage sign-up bonuses in the past (although it's not that many, compared to the experiences of others on these boards:>). This is the first time we've ever received the "call us" note where the application was not approved. This may be for several reasons: while we waited the appropriate length from the last application, we had contacted the reconsideration dept several times, by phone and mail, and perhaps that factored in. I also recently requested the closure letters for Corporate and Individual accounts, so perhaps there was something lagging there, too. Not exactly sure, but the agent didn't ask us for any info to clarify for her. She just flat-out denied it because of the past cards, but did say she tried to get her supervisor to approve it. I did get the feeling that the decision was in their hands. Slightly surprised, considering it was a targeted offer. (UPDATE 5/21: Another targeted offer arrived via Email -- the 4th one for the business. The language now reads, "This MasterCard offer is not available to you if you already have a CitiBusiness/AAdvantage card account. Additionally, this offer is valid only for first time CB/AA World MC cardmembers.....")
Anyone buy any gift cards with this to meet the required spend?

You're aware of the separate lengthy thread discussing that topic, right?

Before you make yourself look silly.
Check who you're quoting... I'm well aware of AA/Citi cards not posting points.
Just went for this one:
Citi Business Mastercard. 30,000 miles after $1k spend in 3 months. $95 annual fee, waived first year. Up to $100 statement credit for AA purchases.

Was approved instantly, credit card number and CVV code was revealed to allow me to use the card instantaneously. Yeah, I know...it's not 100K or even 50K. But what attracted me to the card was that the 1st year fee was waived, $100 statement credit, and only 1K spend (will make spend in 1 day) in order to get the miles. I see it as an easy 30K. Was worth the hard hit and I will keep this card for at least 2 years, maybe longer.

Hope the miles post quickly.

They revealed your full CC number and CVV code before you receive the physical card? I've never heard of an issuer doing that.
Yes they did. It is the first time I have seen this. I never knew that CC companies do this, maybe it is exclusive to Citi.

And where they listed "expiration date" they wrote "Temporary expiration date" and gave me a date like - 12 or 15 days ahead. I guess they figure that the card will arrive by that time. So they give you enough online to get you going (assuming one gets approved, of course).

If people need instant credit (and I mean instant) this may be the card for them.
