The Results Are In: Frequent Flyer Program Award Redemption Satisfaction Survey

So — which airline soars above the rest?

Well, the results are in, based on the responses of 450 people who participated in the survey, which is the second in a series of joint surveys by FlyerTalk and Frequent Business Traveler magazine.

Out of 14 international airlines, one airline clearly ranked exceptionally poorly — at the bottom, to be more specific — with 73 percent of the survey participants not satisfied with the redemption of miles for awards in its frequent flyer loyalty program. Which airline do you believe earned this distinction — and was it deserved?

Do you agree or disagree with the results?

Without taking a look, I would estimate Delta.

I couldn't care less about the survey results but I must object about the mealy mouthed characterization that FlyerTalk is "an online travel community whose members are somewhat fanatical about miles and points." FT'ers, who are probably well adjusted individuals in other aspects, are never "somewhat" fanatical on this subject!!

Without looking, I'm absolutely positive it's DELTA, DELTA, DELTA!!!!

Maybe I'm just having a slow mental morning, but the chart on page 2 clearly shows that the % dissatisfied with Delta is 42.2%, not the 73% quoted. What am I missing?

I agree that the chart is very confusing. Why don't the numbers for each airline add up to 100%? How are the %'s calculated?

Shouldn't they be citing row percentages (% within each airline satisfied/non satisfied) rather than column percentages?

I am on a flight right now so I cannot fix the chart but I see what the problem is and thank folks here for pointing it out.

There is a newer version of the chart that should have been included with percentages based on each airline. The percentages now on the chart include the N/As which were survey respondents not in that particular program.

Apologies for the confusion. We will get it updated.

EDIT/UPDATE
The correct chart was appended to the article a few hours ago.

Thanks (to you and the hundreds of other FlyerTalkers) for participating in survey. ^

A post with the heading "The Results Are In," but without the actual results, is more disappointing than Delta's award redemption!

I'm curious why US Airways was so unsatisfactory--it seemed to have really low ratings, with 50% unsatisfied. Anybody know what the problem with it is?
