Trip Report-The cliff house hotel Ardmore,Ireland

Subscribe
We're not long back from, the Cliff house Ardmore co Waterford,a relatively new boutique hotel, located on the south coast of Ireland, roughly mid way between Cork city and Waterford City.
The village is approached by a road that runs to the coast for a few miles off the Main N25 linking Cork and Waterford.
We were lucky to have a break in the bad weather and have glorious sunshine.
The area has some lovely isolated beaches and is not far from mountains to it's west either.
The village itself is sleepy enough, with a nice harbour area, some pubs, and plenty of wild walking routes.Theres an adventure centre office located there which seems to be a new enterprise where you can have outings arranged from as diverse as rock climbing to kayaking.

Taking, the road off the N25,you get a good view down to the village/harbour in the distance, the hotel being located on the far cliff.

This is the front entrance,of the hotel which is located down a side road which also joins a road down to the harbour, there are some lovely local houses there.

We were greeted by Pat at the door, who took the car keys and offered to valet park the car for us in their underground car park, this is free.
Check in was lovely,we were upgraded into a lovely room,Pat showing us there and the hotels facilities, which include a spa,a pool and a 1 michelin star restaurant amongst other things.
We ate at the michelin star restaurant that night and it was superb, food wise and service wise.
I can also report good service generally at the bar and with anything we asked for really.

The next few photo's,are of the lobby floor to ceiling window and view,it stretches across a number of floors.
The structure is somewhat narrow being cleverly built into a cliff.
The last of this set of pictures,is where you walk by their wine cellar heading down the corridors towards the rooms.

Our room was a deluxe type with a little terrace overlooking the celtic sea [I presume it's the celtic sea, that far south on the island!]

Heres a part of the coridoor, nicely locating the wardrobe and a mini library.

Theres a large enough bathroom in this room type, with a deep soaking bath tub and separate shower. There was only one vanity but plenty of room.

This is the view from our terrace.

I must say,it was warm enough at night, the other weekend to leave, the terrace door slightly open. This meant you got a constant sound of the tide outside, which was lovely and relaxing!
The next three, photo's are from outside at the back of the hotel. There is a long boardwalk/patio walk and at sections,a network of steps, that brings you by,mini gardens,a rock pool,in which you can swim ,an outdoor jacuzzi and the outdoor bath tubs by their spa.

In summary,we loved the hotel,it is gentle luxury, good service and worthy of consideration for a nice Michelin meal and some pampering/relaxation.

Cheers Mark.
Just to add, turn down service was done perfectly. It does feel like you are in a luxury hotel when you return to dimmed lighting, curtains pulled, bed covers turned and soft music very lowly playing. You feel like you're on holidays then.
Breakfast was to order from a menu with healthy choices plus the usual.
Everyone was given a little fruit plate and a local natural yogurt to start which was ice cold and lovely.
It was served in the main restaurant, with large windows again allowing a view over the bay, harbour and sea while you ate.
