Cartagena: Getsemaní in general, Casa El Carretero specifically

Subscribe
Heading to Cartagena this weekend, we decided to book off the main center in Getsemani at a little B&B called Casa El Carretero.

Any must see/dos other than making the short walk to the guide book standards?

Any thoughts or experiences with the neighbourhood or this little property?

I was in Cartagena on january, more focused in the islands, beaches. But at night I did the typical walks around the historic center. The cafes in Santo Domingo square are nice, with musicians playing around.

Not sure about your interests, but if nightlife is included I recommend Mister Babilla. It's a cool club you will enjoy a lot. It's convenient to reseve or arrive not so late cause it gets full.

I see you are from Washington. I suppose it is a given that you can get yourself an escort, short change her to the tune of $47, lose your job, shame your country and then make said escort disappear mysteriously

OK just kidding

Well, the NY Daily News was able to track her down and find some pictures:

Not sure I buy her being a high-class "escort" though. Looks like a common street girl.

Nah you'd never be able to save up for boobs like that if you were selling it for 30 mil pesos a ride

Edit: Apologies for taking this thread way OT

After traipsing around the old city yesterday afternoon we came to appreciate why God invented the siesta.

The wife and I thought about doing table service and hookers after that, but opted for sundowners at Cafe del Mar then dinner near and drinks on Baluarte del Reducto instead. This is why we will never get ahead in DC. Lack of initative.

To my point: we were going to hit Havana Club but opted for beers on Plaza de La Trinidad

We plan to check out El Laguito after God-given siesta (and massages) today, but with our lack of gumption....who knows.

Back on topic, Cartagena is awesome. And Getsemani is a fine place to stay. Walkable to tourism but not tourity itself.
