Adelaide Hyatt REVIEW - MASTER THREAD - NO LONGER HYATT - AS OF 9/23/09
Very nice hotel. Extremely well located to getting around. Service in RC is excellant. They are getting prepared to redo the club, so be advised to insure availability if you are looking to be in club. All liquor is comped in club. Miss the veggie plate, but all else is what you would expect. A few new people in club, but they are EXCELLENT. Great attitude, service, appearance, demeanor...perhaps a bit short on knowledge of some attractions, but willing to chase down the information.
I also recommend the city for a visit. Wonderful free buses take you most anywhere! Excellent zoo for city its size. And you have to love the people! The casino next store is a must miss, however the railroad station is interesting.

I just spent a week at this hotel. I thought it was a bit dated, but the staff was excellent (they kept bringing amenity wine to my room)
Did you try the wine tasting in Barrosa or the Cleland national forest? You get to play with koalas, emus and roos there.

Hi Stimpy...yes we did the wine thing. We also went to every "animal type thing" each trip. We have pet and/or feed most of Australia's animals including a Dingo, wombat(heavy thing, 20 Kilos). Quokkas (on Rotnest Island), Emus, Ostrichs, Llama (ok, so it was brought to Aust, as were the camel and burro), Kangaroos, opposum, wallabies, fairy penguin (oops, I did it before I knew it was not allowed), Cassowary, and Koalas. Naturally, we fed the lorikeets, cookatoos and a variety of other birds (especially water fowl). Wonder country. Great experiences in the zoos, but mainly in the wildlife parks dedicated to saving injured animals.

I didn't think the RC was too special. It's a normal lounge with a decent breakfast and happy hour if that's what you want. But the rooms are pretty much the same as the lower floors.

If you are accustom to Regency Club, this one is average (they are going to remodel it). But it is a full service, totally free food and drinks. In the US only the resorts offer this totally free amenity.
If you were going to Perth, you would find a VERY disapointing regency club evening. Little or not poo-poo! Very unusual, but a nicer club with plenty of view. Also on the list to be remodeled.

This is the best hotel in Adelaide with the absolute best staff. My wife and I were very surprised with Adelaide.
Adelaide is a gem to visit with great people, great pubs and pub meals, cheap rent a cars, and fantastic parks with beautiful beaches. Plus wineries and excellent fishing. My advice - skip Melbourne and see Adelaide.

Considering spending a night here while in AU. Anyone stay here recently? How are the facilities, staff, rooms, regency club? Thanks.

stayed a little over a year ago. Rooms were fine, not great. RC was VERY PICKY -- you could not take anything out of the RC without being charged for it -- like a can of coke!! The RC itself was OK. Nice location -- connected to the Casino and walking distance to most of downtown. Had two very fine meals -- good selction of wines. I would certainly stay again.

I had a very good week long stay there and had no problem with the RC. I even brought a bottle of wine down to the main bar and consumed it there.
Be sure to ask the concierge for a wine tour of Barossa valley with a chauffeur.

Stayed there several times a while back. Got pretty tired of octagonal rooms (or were they hexagonal?). Often things didn't work in the room and they couldn't fix them, so I had to move to another room. The RC locks everything up except for the exact times they are supposed to be available; they won't let you sneak an extra Coca-Cola past THEM!
I did like the meat pie truck that parked nearby at night next to the casino, though.

I was there March 14--19/ 2007 for the Fringe. My first time celebrating St. Patrick's Day as the beginning of autumn ! I booked my suite in 2006 when it was a Cat. 1 (!) --now Cat. 2. Money price was A$630 a night (A$350 for a basic room) due to pretty high demand.
I loved the smoked salmon (lox) for breakfast, which filled me till 3PM for a late lunchtime.
