IMO, smart move to remain competitive with a number of other airlines. The nickel and diming has, I believe, hurt.

Really
I thought we're bankrupt and were cutting things left right and center
And we cut Glenlivet in F for comp booze in Y
What are they thinking?

This appears to be the real reason for the policy change. If AA/BA/IB want to market their flights interchangeably, they have to be in a position to offer similar products.
"Offering complimentary beer and wine to our loyal customers in all classes of service allows American to better align our product offering with fellow oneworld® alliance members and is another example of our commitment to enhance the travel experience," said Rob Friedman, American's Vice President – Marketing.

Great news. Wonder how much of an increase we will see on the hard liquor now?

Another EXP perk is being devalued!
If they're aligning their product with IB does this mean we'll finally get some (decent) dark rum onboard?

"Our customers asked for complimentary beer and wine, and we listened. Starting Feb. 1, when a customer travels internationally onboard American, we invite them to have a drink on us."
