This property is being renovated. The lobby, bar and restaurant are
nice. The rooms are nice - the workout room and rooftop patio area
are not (yet) finished. WiFi was problem-free. Most properties
comp a couple of bottles of water in the room - not this property.
Front desk staff is competent & pleasant.
They do need to consider opening a restaurant - they
already have the space & kitchen, but the staff is so
utterly and completely incompetent ... it's as if they
have never worked in a restaurant, or even been to a
sit-down restaurant, ever. Pleasant enough, but
completely clueless, uncommunicative with zero ability
to anticipate.
- Had to ask for *everything*. Everything includes silverware,
napkins, water. Can we order?
- Three of us dined together. None (that's zero) of
our orders were correct when delivered from the
kitchen. They could/would only correct 2:3 orders,
saying that the side dish listed for one of the entrees
was simply unavailable. Okay - but my dinner companion
*really* did want that particular side-dish. Why not
ask the guest about a substitution rather than disappoint?
- Slow. Slow, does not begin to describe the speed
of the service. The time between the plates being
cleared and dessert being served was 20 minutes.
Twenty minutes to cut two slices of pie? May I have a
fork please? Uh umm, you forgot the coffee. (It never
did arrive.)
- They delivered the wrong check to our table - twice.
- We & the waiter had agreed that we'd get a single check
and that he'd split the total across three credit cards. I
never expected it to be split randomly ... and the sum of
the splits was a few bucks less than the total on the
original check.
I stayed there last December. It is pretty nice for a DT. There is a DART station right behind the hotel. Plenty of good restaurants on Greenville ave, and a 24 hour fitness about 1/2 mile north on 75 at Royal.
Rooms were nice, as Diamond I got an upgrade (I think) to a corner room which had wrap around windows which were pretty cool.
I just stayed here and I thought it was great. Rooms seemed recently renovated and were very nice--upgraded to a corner room. Internet was adequate, although not fast. Staff was super nice. Gold breakfast was a full hot buffet, served with a smile. Free and abundant parking. Contrary to the report above, there is NOT a DART station behind the hotel. Instead, it sits squarely between two rail stations, but not walking distance to either. FYI--if you have a DND on the door when the housekeepers happen to come by, be forewarned: they WON'T come back. You have to get the desk to call them. (I actually spoke to the desk clerks about this--they said it was the hotel's policy, which I find a bit strange. I just told the clerk each day as I went out the door to have housekeeping clean my room.)
I would gladly stay here again, particularly given the low Price Match Guarantee rate I got.
Actually, having stayed there several times, the Park Lane station is in walking distance. If you're hauling bags, ok - maybe not so much (but not impossible). If light on luggage, definitely doable. Glad to hear the rooms have been renovated. It was needed.
