Not a great deal, but if they post instantly it's not bad if the situation warrants.
IE: Chicago<>Brazil is $2,000 cash over christmas of 80,000 miles in coach.

Got this same email today as well and am tempted to top off to 50K (account a little depleted after a BE redemption this summer and two coach TATL last month) just in case....
But then again, I have MR points that can be transferred with a 30% rebate...

Maybe it did not specify the currency. If it was in Zimbabwe dollars, it still might be a good deal!

Can you put an award ticket on hold with DL, pending a mileage purchase/transfer?
If it is possible to secure availability of an award before purchasing, this could be a good deal.

Takes the right circumstances though (high demand period redemption or last-minute redemption), due to last seat availability.

Yes, if done online. On the phone, the agents will not hold a reservation. However, the purchase will post immediately, so if you find availability, open up a second browser window, purchase the miles and then go back and complete the reservation.Originally Posted by MikeFromTokyo

Buy only with a Delta AMEX to average the cost lower. That said we aren't backing up the truck over here like we did on the transfer Skymiles promotion.
