I'm fly July 18 tlv-mad mad-JFK (6 hour stopover) in business class. What am I up for? Is there lounge access? Is it good?
Judging by the website it looks like the flight will be crap, tell me im wrong.
What planes do they fly, what is the best seat on them.
Thanks

Read these two threads first:

(Your flight to MAD)
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/iberi...ve-thread.html

(your flight to JFK)
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/iberi...ve-thread.html

Then read the threads on the lounges.

On what basis do you feel the flights will be crap? The flight to Madrid has one of the best seats and service around, the flight to JFK has a flatbed like the Qantas seat and service is better than AA (imo). Flights will be on Airbus A320 and A340.

are you J or Y
If J see previous reply, if Y then best seat is in row 10 to Mad (cant tell you more about Mad-NYC as I never flown it.

Lounge in terminal 4 is good. Lounge in Terminal 4S is superb.

In TLV will be Dan Lounge if on an IB aircraft (I think)

I fly via mad from Lon sometimes as I have business in Madrid but using "one world alliance" card

OP is in business.

tlv dan lounge is very unimpressive,
(posting from it now)
very tight, and very crowded.

i got seat 4f, i will post how it was in a few hours....

they ended up pushing me up to seat 2f, front right (window).
gr8 seat, all the perks of business class was there.
the perks:
55 cm seat
nice incline
188 cm between seats
foot rest lifts up

the cons:
you need to walk off the plane and be taken by bus
slightly noiser than boeing planes

Next week I'm doing JFK MAD on IB then switching over to LY to TLV
(which is a code share with IB). Will my bags go straight through, or will I have to offer them for inspection again?

(BTW - 4C on the IB A340 and 10H on the LY 738.

In theory you should be able to check the bags through, unless LY has some more rigorous security protocols, AFAIK. Your 4C should be good, although not so much if you have someone in 4A with a tiny bladder.

What Boeing planes are you referring to? In my experience the A340 is probably the quietest (from inside the cabin) aircraft there is out there.

But - I think the OP was on an A320 Business Club on the first leg (TLV-MAD).
