I had been looking to make trip from WAS area to SIN or BKK. Then I tried from LAX via DCA, which was rather high. This yields about 24500 MQMs for 4.7 cents per mile.
I had $450 worth of e-certs that brought the cost down to $711, bringing the cpm down to 2.9 cents per mile.
The cost per mile does not include medallion bonuses. With DM status the cost for RDMs is down to less than 1.5 cpm. Books in T class with Fare basis - TXSL18
Travel to begin before April 30.

I am sorry, I forgot to add that it's on Delta all the way. I do not fly over Europe.Originally Posted by rally

I found the flights on ITA (LAX to BKK via JFK) and then booked on Delta.com using multi-city search. If you search by price, delta.com may or may not show that routing,. If it does, price would be higher as one of inbound or outbound might be an class higher than T. But if you search using schedule and pick the flights shown by ITA, the itinerary will price lower (in T class all the way). ITA returns LAX-JFK-NRT-BKK and back only, but you will have to play around with delta.com's search by price to route through ATL. The $1025 for LAX-NRT-BKK isn't great, but going through JFK makes it worthwhile.
The search parameters were LAX-JFK, JFK-BKK and reverse. I could have squeezed a few more miles by going through ATL on inbound JFK-LAX too, but it would have brought be into LAX at a time that might have required an overnight in LAX, as I have to come back home to DCA (using DCA-LAX award ticket, which I managed to get the lowest mileage level). PM me if you need any more info.
Since you are based in LAX you would be able to explore more options adding another segment or two. LAX-BKK without the JFK diversion prices at $1025 on ITA. AN extra $135 for 8000 more miles is not bad.

Sounds like a cool trip. Realize it's a MR, but how long are you staying in Bangkok?Originally Posted by Yaatri

Considering the O&D cities, the fare isn't great. THe routing makes it a bit more than just tolerable.

Nice find; it's always good when Asia is on sale as the miles can add up!
Might be doing my own little configuration of this trip. Thanks for the info.

Let me know if you do it. It was quite a surprise to have my name called from behind at the gate for the TPE flight in NRT. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out who could be calling my name at the gate in NRT. My dates are April 20th to May 2nd for LAX-BKK part of the trip. Originally Posted by tc fly girl

It's not a sale as much as the routing that makes it worthwhile. Alas, we'll never see the ~$500 fare to Asia.
