Any g FTers going to Bangkok for Songkran this year?

Anyone attending any of the gCircuit parties planned for this year?

I'm definitely going to Bangkok. Have some family things to attend to. Schedule and other business permitting, I'm hoping to make it to my first circuit party in Asia on Friday night.

I guess I am getting old. I did songkran last year and swore never again. You could not be dry unless you were in a taxi, bts, or skytrain while outside. It was fun the first day, but after 3 I was tired of it. I am planning to go to BKK the week after songkran.

Because of an unfortunate situation with when I could get leave I've had to skip songkran this year, but I too will be headed into Bangkok the week after.

Some acquaintences of mine from Southern Cal had planned to be in BKK but cancelled the trip too. Guess I'll have more of the boys to myself.

For the record... the Friday night and Saturday night gCircuit parties moved from the originally advertised venue to the ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel in Rajaprasong. The Friday party went off without a hitch. The sound and light systems in the ballroom were quite good. There wasn't much of a show to speak of, and no singer. Joe Gauthreaux played a good set, but it was a bit too tribally for my taste. The party had a pretty good-sized crowd. Oddly, though, it wasn't an especially friendly crowd-- not nearly as friendly as similar parties in the U.S.

In contrast, the foam parties at Babylon on Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon were packed with an especially friendly crowd, mmmkay?

Silom Road was packed with revelers for all three days of Songkran, from daytime 'til late into the night. There was a DJ with a huge, powerful sound system right at the entrance to Soi 2, and lots of the gay boys hung out there, splashing the cuties in the crowd as they slowly made their way past. It's a street party like no other, tons of fun, totally disorganized, and quintessentially Thai. Thirty days from now, it'll be time to start looking for air tix for Songkran 2012.
